looks a little cheaper then some because of plastic pieces but for the price I can't complain.
The rest feels a little flimsy but i believe that's probably just because it has plastic pieces which makes it more affordable just not as durable in the long run. I am pleased with the simple elegant design. the padding is about 1/2 inch thick. I struggled to figure out how it worked with adjustability at first but figured it out after a bit.

Does the job, can come off fairly quick.
Decent quality, maybe could be a little more secure when attached. 4/4 standard violin size.

A well designed and made accessory
I bought two of these for my kids - while I don't use a rest, they are required to have one by their instructor. And while the instructor suggested using one of those thick car-wash sponges, I decided instead to get real shoulder rests. This is a real shoulder rest.I like that it's wood with foam padding, instead of all plastic or foam-on-metal. The wood adds a little je ne sais quoi to the rig. I found it easy to adjust, though I kind of wish the width adjustment were a sliding bracket instead of a choice of three holes on each side. The height is adjusted by screwing the attachment bracket up or down, and again I kind of wish that were a slider instead of a screw to make the adjustment a little more exact. That said, it fits both me and my kids perfectly, so those criticisms are pretty much academic. The brackets are made such that I'm not worried that they'll scratch the instrument, and the rest itself is really quite comfortable. My ear is not trained well enough to tell you if it robs the instrument of any tone or projection, but for the instruments they'll be fitted to (a Stentor II and a Cremona SV-175) that's not a prime consideration at this point. The takeaway here is that this is a very well designed and made shoulder rest, something that, like the instrument it supports, will last for years with proper care. I really like it a lot.

Configurable and well cushioned
As the cuishion is stuck on the flat wooden surface of the shoulder rest, it tends not to cut into the shoulder. Great design by fiddler shopThe Kun shoulder rest I have has a plastic edging throughout the shoulder rest into which the cushioning is inserted. Once the cushioning becomes softer with time, the plastic section starts poking the shoulder rendering the Kun shoulder rest not usable..

Great violin rest!!!
We bought this violin rest for our son. He was using a 3/4 sized violin, and just moved up to a 4/4 size this new school year. What's great about this rest is that it moves up with the violins. So basically you don't have to buy another once they get to 4/4 size.Quality is good, it does seems well made. And from what I was told you can get replacement parts for it. The only thing I must add is that it's very sensitive (which is both good and bad) when mounting to the violin. It's adjustable which is good. But when mounting if you don't have it adjusted right the ends will pop off which is a bit annoying, but at the same time is good because it protects the body and finish of the violin. A standard 4/4 size rest that is not adjustable would either break or you would damage the backside of the violin. When you set it right it will be very snug. To tight and the securing ends will pop off.You won't be disappointed with this purchase.
