Works great
I bought this to do a custom exhaust for my truck. I have now completed it with no issues from this machine. Is it the best chop saw on the market? No. But for the price, you can’t go wrong. Especially if you don’t want to pay 350-400 for a low end metal bandsaw and really don’t do much metal work in the first place. A metal chop saw is really just a step up from a freehand angle grinder anyways. Unlike others, the clamp angle marks on mine are dead on. I was able to cut pies using it without problems. I did spend 5 bucks on a dewalt disc and haven’t used the supplied porter one so couldn’t tell you how it is. With the dewalt disc, this machine had no issue cutting 16 gauge SS exhaust pipe. Unlike a bandsaw, it does melt the bottom last bits so you will need to use a dremel or something to debur and clean that up. My biggest complaint is how messy these saws are. My final assessment is that if you only have 200 dollars, this saw will work for you. If you have 3-400 dollars, get a Wen or similar bench-top metal bandsaw so you don’t have the mess and will have a cleaner cut. But a bandsaw blade def cost more than 5 bucks. So up to you. I’d you get this, make sure to have a shop vac nearby to suck up the dust afterwards. If I have to do another metal project, I’ll probably invest in a metal bandsaw but will keep this machine for quick small cuts.

works decent for home projects
this is a decent quality saw for home DIY projects. Even the included wheel works fine as long as you don't get in a hurry. This saws motor doesn't quite have the horsepower or rpms of what you could have bought 10 to 15 years ago, but if you are patient it will do the job just fine. Slow light downward pressure...you can't lean on it and try to force it to go faster or the blade will break or stop. If you aren't in a real big hurry and have a little patience, this is a good steel cutting saw for the price. Besides in this price point- if you try to cut the steel too fast the cut will be rougher or crooked. I like mine and it and wheel are working perfect! :)

It's a fine tool for what it is.
People misunderstand this and similar tools' place in the world. This is a respectable saw in the sub-$200 group. I would not use it for any kind of production work, but for a casual user, it is fine."The deck is not square!" Not my experience; the first thing we did was check square when we received it. I suspect such users did not prop the stock or were working with unclean metal that did not sit flat on the deck."The motor is weak and blows circuit breakers!" and "The included disc is terrible!" What? First, if you take any grinding tool and push hard on it, you will load the motor and wear out the grinding discs faster. Cutting tools need to be run at a certain speed and a certain force, while grinding tools enjoy a tradeoff between speed and tool wear. You can grind with minimal force; the disc will last longer, but the cuts will be slower. The included disc works fine, though better discs will certainly work better. Just go easy on the pressure and take your time. You can't go too slow, except for the time it takes. If you want fast, clean cuts, get a $800 cutting tool with a carbide tipped blade. If you want to make occasional cuts and don't mind going slow to get a good quality cut, this tool is fine.General advice, not specific to this tool:Aligning material to be cut is difficult. Build yourself some supports for any material that overhangs the deck.Get a face shield. Carbon steel cuts will shower some good sized sparks.Wear good hearing protection. Grinding, especially a 14" disc, is LOUD.Ease up on the pressure. Go slow. Be patient.

Great Tool
Best investment on a cutting tool. Was building a fence and had to cut 40+ pipes. This machine is no joke and durable. It made my work so much easier compared to using a saw saw or a hand cutting grinder.

PORTER-CABLE PCE700 15 Amp Chop Saw, 14"
It's okI cuts straight and thats its biggest plus. You can adjust the angle up to 45 degrees... but at 45 degrees if you dont complete your cut fast enough your cut will be uneven and good luck welding a 90 degree joint. It is light weight I store mine on a shelf and its built in handle (cant see in picture) is ergonomic and easy to grab and move the saw. What I dont like is how much burr is left at the end of every cut, its pretty out of control. Very messy cuts every cut I have to grind down at least 1/4" of burr, almost as if the metal is being burned red hot and then cut with a dull blade leaving this HUGE amount of metal stickng off the sides. Miserable to have to de bur each cut. Also it cuts S-L-O-W-L-Y. If you apply too much pressur eth saw bogs down and the blade slows. The blade seems to be dull, you just have to be very patient. In comparison my SKIL 4 1/2" angle grinder with a metal cut off blade cuts many times faster with exponentially less burr on each cut - but I cant cut perfectly square with it and the blade is 4 1/2" not 14" like this one.I suppose this saw has its plce, Im looking into thinner/sharper blades maybe that will help it because tbh it is almost useless unless you dont mind de-burring each cut (I mean really de-burring and its not a light and quick de-bur)3 stars at best.**UPDATE 7-26-16**What Ive found works best with this chop saw is once it starts cutting apply pressure and try to finish your cut as quick as possible. This means you will bog down the motor but not so severely that it "really" slows, but definitely you will hear the motor slow some, finish your cut ASAP and youll definitely get less left over burr at the end of your cut and your cut will also be much more "tight" and (if you will) "crisp".Main point is that cut all the way through as fast as reasonably possible for the best results. Ive read people say apply the weight of your arm only - with THIS SAW that will cause the metal to turn bright red and the cut will melt and youll have an uneven cut with TONS of burr, it gets ridiculous so once the blade starts to bite in apply pressure and finish your cut asap.I hope this helps because this is the very best you can do with this saw and this technique/approach helps alot....or perhaps better yet save up another $50-$100 and buy a makita or some other brand. Id have to say their are definitely quality issues with this saw, this saw seems only good for straight cuts not any angles because it is inconsistent and wavy. In other words I think itd be best to save up a bit more and buy a more reputable brand I certainly wish I did.
