The Very Best of Plaster Mixes.
I use this type of plaster for plaster-casting moulds of very sizes and shapes and have had not problems with the end result. It is also very good for cracks in plaster walls prior to repainting.

It does the job
The product came in powder form inside the sealed bucket. The first time I ordered this, halfway en route to me, I was notified that the order had to be canceled because of some mishap to the package. This second time, the sealed bucket was put in a plastic bag tightly tied with a knot and then placed within a box. It arrived safely without incident. As it is in powder form, you will have to mix it with water to form a paste for you to apply it or cast it. I used a plastic container and added a few scoops of the powder and very little water each time while stirring it, until it turned into a thick paste. I then applied it in patches to small areas at a time. When the whole area I was working on was well covered, I wet the area with water so that I can smooth everything out. It does cured quickly. Once it is in paste form, you have about 15 minutes or less to work on it, depending on the humidity of your locality. I let it sit overnight before I put paint on it and it took paint well without the need of a primer.

DIY Chalk Paint turned out perfect!
I am new to using plaster of Paris, but I used this to make homemade chalk paint with Behr interior latex paint made up in a Benjamin Moore color and it turned out perfect! Definitely cheaper and nice to be able to choose any color I wanted. I don’t use chalk paint all that often, but I would definitely opt to do this again. I was chalk painting old RV furniture rather than re-covering it and it turned out so good! The key was to water the chalk paint recipe down, spray the furniture with water and use a sanding block to work it in the fabric and then after it dried in between coats. It took three coats and then a seal with a carnauba wax since it is used in an RV and will experience temp fluctuations. It feels leathery when done. There are so many recipes for chalk paint out there and this was a cost effective way to update the ‘90s floral couches.
