I was really excited to buy the Daveliou Calligraphy set because it has the best reviews of any calligraphy set on Amazon. However, when I recieved it in the mail there were quite a few hiccups that I didn't expect for a 45 dollar calligraphy set. First of all, the decorative material on the "silver" ends of the nib holders was very cheap. I'm sure it's plastic. One holder was chipping at the end so that was unpleasant. The nib holder stand is made out of the same plastic material. Then there's also the fact that the box came in such a horrible condition. It was crushed and falling apart so bad that you could see the glue that was supposed to hold it together. The only positive thing about this calligraphy set and of course its main selling point is that there are detailed instructions that are helpful for begginers like me, but the cost still doesn't justify that. I don't think it's worth the money if the materials are going to be cheap.An annoying situation for an expensive set. I would go with a speedball or manuscript set if you're just starting out like me. Better value and you won't be wasting your money. As far as instructions are concerned, there are plenty of how to videos on YouTube that show you how to use specific nibs and how to care for them.

I'd definitely recommend buying a book to go along with this set so the beginner can start practicing right away. Since my daughter couldn't decide what to give her dad for his birthday I let her take over this present. His response was priceless! Despite also getting tools and other "manly" type things, the first thing he wanted to do after the kids went to bed was pull out the calligraphy set. He played with it for HOURS!!! It looked so beautiful when he opened it and it was nice that it had the two calligraphy pens so that the next day we could take turns as a family learning new calligraphy styles.

OK...so maybe I didn't "Pen" my autobiography with this new caligraphy set....BUT...by the end of the year I'm sure my grandaughter will have written plenty of stories and notes! After all...she's the one who "dropped the hint" that this is the set her friend has (her caligraphy buddy after all)! Needless to say...I was skeptical...VERY...based on feedback about the inks...and the nib thingies....So..the first thing we did ..was break out the inks...give them each a shake..then use them...they all seemed to work fine. Now...about nib changing...yes..the FIRST time...they are tight...I'm glad about that...you certainly don't want them loose! BUT...after a few changes...this wasn't a issue. Bottom Line....NICE SET! Would make a VERY nice gift just due to the way it's packaged...plus what you get for the dough!

I bought this for myself as a beginner calligraphy pen set. The packaging was so beautiful, as you can see in the image, it's very classy looking. This is a really good kit for me because it comes with simple explanations of the different alphabet writing styles that I can copy and practice with. There's a lot of information that comes with the set such as how to position your paper and techniques on how to hold the pen. There are explanations of the types of nibs and care of the set. It came just in time for me to create a personalized birthday card that I'll need in a few days.

This is a great calligraphy set for people who work with type or design related to type. I am a illustrator by trade so I work with a lot of different type of fonts. This said lets me explore a different ways of using type in an old fashion way .All the materials feel very high-quality this site comes with different types of pen tips and three different type types of colors. Also a great gift for people who are creative.

This is advertised as a good beginner set. I wrongly assumed absolute beginner. Well, it isn't. There are metal parts on top of some of the nibs. I didn't know what they were for. I thought they were a type of nib protection. Nothing in the inserted directions said what they were for. By accident will searching for instruction books about calligraphy, I found the answer. Those metal parts weren't nib covers. They are in fact ink resiviors meant to be placed on the back of the nib. The instructions were also less then desirable for an absolute beginner.

I purchased this set as a gift. It is a very nice looking set and arrived quickly. This appears to be a nice set for both beginner and advanced calligraphy writers. The ink colors are pretty and the pens seem really nice.

Received this product fast, and was amazed at this stylish and beautiful set! Great value compared to other listings , and am so happy with this purchase. I intended to use this set; however, my daughter "borrowed" it one day, and now loves using this for her art creations, and it's her first experience using Calligraphy pens. I will buy a set for myself now that I know what a wonderful product this is. Money well spent for sure.

I bought this to do wedding invitations, it came beautifully packaged, you have a great selection inside, and easy to use. I would highly recommend this product

Apart from the box being broken Everything else was fine, lovely set of pens with different attachments and for lovely pots of ink. Very happy
