No words
The book has no words. It merely shows how the world changes so quickly while we watch out the baby's window. When the baby grows up and starts a family of his own, we see a new scene out a new window with that feeling that the same journey will start all over again. This book is useful for little kids to understand the aspect of change and history of their home and neighborhood. It also shows how quickly the environment is being taken over by human development. It could lead to some interesting discussions with the kids.... Some examples: do they really need to clear all the natural environment to have a family live on the property? Could the natural trees or shrubs be saved to maintain the natural ecosystem? Could we plant native plants as the landscaping? Why did they move out of their parents home instead of living together as multiple generations under one roof like many people around the world do?

Another favorite!
My children LOVED this book! It has no words, but each page is a view from a boys window in his house, from birth to when he starts a family of his own! It shows the changes in the area where he lives. I loved having my children tell me from one page/view to the next what had changed looking through the window. It also lends itself to having children make up their own story and dialog for the characters seen.

Magical collages!
This was a gift for a lover of wordless picture books. The book is beautiful and tells a story with the most amazing bits and pieces of everyday items. Will continue to purchase books from this vendor, especially Jeannie Baker creations!

Beautiful book
Beautiful book with thought provoking and intriguing pictures. I am a teacher and I have used it with various age groups from Year 2- Year 4. The book came with slight stains on a few pages however is only noticeable up close. Worth the price for the lovey large version of this timeless picture book.

A beautiful novel to get children talking about stories before they can read or for creative writing for older children. Beautiful and intricate pictures, really artistic and creative.

Superb Resource & a lovely book...
I bought this book to use in Geography lessons with my KS2 Y6 (10/11 year old) classes. They loved the illustrations and the amount of oral work it inspired was tremendous. We were looking at change over time and it sparked a lot of discussion about what has happened in their world in their lifetime - just wait until they have been around as long as me. I loved the book and will probably buy others in the series and, if necessary, invent lessons to use then in...

Amazing!
I purchased this book as the one I had was beginning to look a bit tired. It is a beautiful book I have shared with many children, particularly those who are struggling to learn to read. As there are no words to worry about, the child can make up his/her own story and there is so much on each page to talk about. For instance, how do we know the boy's name is Sam? I was introduced to this book over 5 years ago and no matter how many times I have "read" it, there is always something I hadn't noticed before. Watch out for all those cats!!
