Great projector for artist!
The Dr. J Professional 4500L Mini Projector is a fantastic tool for artist in the the transfer of photo images to canvas. Not only is the image quality exceptional, you can adjust the image to fit any size canvas. I am able to place photo images on a thumb drive and use the USB connection to display them. Can't beat the price either!

Cheap
Does not connect to phone for streaming services even with correct cords. Speaker is terrible as well. Really just a waste of money. I thought it was going to be a fun summer item but itβs just a dud.

Good projector other than the overheating.
The picture is perfect especially for what we are using it for. Playing games on this projector is amazing it is very clear and when we play splitscreen its big enough to see all the little details on each screen. The only problem is that the projector gets overheated too easily and sometimes it shuts off without warning. But all around its an amazing purchase

Not A Terrible Projector
I bought this to use in my office as a cheaper alternative to a mounted tv. The picture quality is good, but it needs to pretty dark in the room.

So Easy to set up!
This projector is light years better than the last one I ordered (and returned) - Set up was a breeze even for this not techie person and took a matter of minutes - I hooked it up to my phone via a lightning cable and was in business.

You get what you pay for -- main issue is LENS focus!
I will preface this review saying: this is an ultra portable ultra low cost projector for people on an EXTREMELY low budget OR for people looking for an ultra low cost portable projector for outdoor/camping travel purposes. Do not compare this with anything higher end because you will be incredibly disappointed.Context: I have previously owned a couple decent mid-range 1000-3000$ projectors before and I gave up on it for a while mainly because of the need to have controlled lighting. I went back to projection based home theater setup because I have kids that want to have "movie night" with friends or family. I was set to spend as little money as possible for a really low budget home theater since its probably only at best 3 "movie nights" a month and I didnt want to really spend much on this. I dont recommend using projectors for your "main" viewing screen for daily TV. But i'm a huge fan of projection for the occasional movie night or outdoor projector use for camping / backyard use.Now about this projector:1) The resolution is native 800x480 so it downscales 1080p to lower res. It does so in a fairly decent, smooth way. It reminds me of the original infocus x1 projector that has the same native res and downscaled really well. When the InFocus X1 was first released, it was around 1000CAD, and now, you get this for a fraction of the price.2) The colour and contrast/brightness can be calibrated to a resonably acceptable MOVIE viewing setting. I found that setting the screen to contrast 55, brightness 40, color 70 and sharpness 41, and colour temperature to "WARM" preset, makes the movie more cinematic --- the default settings/presets are really cold and ugly to my eye. Try it. But still the end of the day you will never be totally happy with the colours ... If you're camping or outdoor movie playing, colour isn't a priority.3) I projected onto a 120" screen... it needs a decent 3meter throw. That's decent short throw for 120".4) The build-in speaker is actually decent. So in a portable setting, its nice to know it works well (decently loud) for a tight cozy setting. Obviously lacks bass but its a decent thing in a pinch. I would only obviously use this when you are able to use external audio. The setup has three audio modes (2 different surround sound simulations and stereo) but honestly the default SRS Stereo is the best and loudest , so the most useful to use when youre in a pinch and need loud audio for the projector.5) This projector claims 2400lu brightness (which is an upgrade from the first revision of this projector). There is NO WAY this projector can be used in any bright lighting spaces, or even shadowy spaces with some light. In order to make the best out of this projector, You need good control of lighting space. For me, i'm shooting the projector in the basement so the lighting control is perfect. when a single incandescent lamp is on, you can see it the video projection fine, but not the best. I cant really scientifically say whether this projector actually meets the 2400lu spec but it doesnt matter: With the calibration i mentioned in #2, you really need to turn down the brightness to get decent colour and contrast and cinematic look --- therefore you wont have the full 2400lumens anyway. When comparing to 1000lu InFocus x1 , there is no way this is 2400lu because it should blow away the x1... I just don't witness that.6) the hardware is made of decent plastics however the lens keystone/focus rings are a bit shabby and rickety. Lightly shake the projector and it feels a bit cheap. The rings rotate cheaply and not very precisely. The size of the unit as you can see in the pics, is VERY small. fits on your hand and you can grasp it end to end. So ULTRA portable.7) I would NOT project this much larger than 120" because the focus will be very verrrry poor on edges and noticeably disturbing.8) Regarding lens focus: you will be VERY upset that the edges of the projection is VERY poor. the Center can be focused sharp but then the circular edges will be blurred. I detest this. I have to focus this projector to its sweet spot where almost everything is somewhat focused but not quite focused. This is something that bothers me a lot because i love to have sub-titles when i watch movies so if you focus the lens to make the subtitles on the bottom sharp then the rest of the screen will be really unfocused and the movie is NOT watchable. If you focus to make the overall screen focused "on average", then the subtitles will be blurry and annoying to read. So at the end of the day, you have to live with poorly focused screen . When the action is happening in the center of the screen, then youre happy, but if the action is in the edges, its noticibly annoyingly unfocused compared. Just look at the picture where subtitle is blurry but the center is OK. If this bothers you then you should not buy this projector and spend more money on something better. For me, its OK. I acknowledge you get what you pay for. I have it focused to make it acceptable enough.9) For the focus reason i just mentioned, YOU CANNOT USE THIS PROJECTOR for business presentations. my PC hdmi output looks like a blurry mess. I do not recommend using this for business.10) takes a normal 1/4" camera standard mount on the bottom. So you can get a cheap projector mount on amazon.11) the projector has IR receiver on front and back! so very nice rig to accept remote signal from any position. Works really well.Overall, for the price you pay, its a decent projector. but know its limitations and its purposes, and you will be happy. if you are looking for a good home theater setup that will be used often, then spend much more money. The BIGGEST issue with this project is the lens focusing issue. I would give this a full 5 stars if it werent for this issue. but its cheap enough that i would knock off only 1 star for that.Update:For reasons 7,8 and 9 above. I just couldn't stand watching movies and sport games so I returned it ... I can barely see the score board on the edges..... Also I just can't see subtitles well enough because it's just blurry. But I have given this an honest review and I stand by my 4 star rating given the cavists and use cases I mentioned where image quality isn't that priority (occasional outdoor use and movie nights once in a while.). I certainly would've kept this if I were to use it strictly for outdoor use. But the focus issues just didn't sit well with me for indoor basement use... I ended update returning it. I found an Epson that is vastly superior in ALL respects so I was ok with spending a bit more money. Approx 80$ more btw.
