thinner and light
this is my 3rd MacBook Air...the first two were trashed with liquid...not me..one sat upstairs for 7 years, then one day I plugged it in, hit the power button and it fired up..I played wit it for awhile, seemed to run ok, then I shut it down, fired it up a 3rd tie, walked away for awhile, came back and it had shut off due to inactivity..never started it again...after it ws trashed with water I took it into an Apple Store and was told the minimum would be $750.00, iso I just bought a new right there....it lasted a few years then the battery would only charge to 20%..I took it to batteries plus + for a new battery and it never would turn on..so I took it back and since it was over 30 days they wouldn't honor the warranty...so now I'm on this real M4 MacBook Air...

Minimum config is an excellent value laptop, mem/disk upgrades pricey, good battery, can get warm
I got the minimum configuration unit--16GB memory and 256GB disk. I'd say the reports are true that circa 2025 this is a great value for a laptop, coming from Apple (though the prices for extending the memory and disk are pretty outrageous for how little of a bump you get, hence why I didn't upgrade.) It's the first time I've had a laptop that can do all-day battery life...how much it uses depends on what you're doing, but it's in a new league and I really can carry it without the charger. The slab design isn't particularly exciting and it's heavier than I expected for the size--I wouldn't describe it as "air" having handled the likes of LG Grams. But in the bargain you get something that feels very sturdy. I think the camera notch at the top is obnoxious and an extremely dated concept, but one gets used to it eventually.Performance-wise it seems to breeze along just fine, and at most tasks (outside of running x86 virtual machines) can beat a nearly-4-year-old ThinkPad P17 high-end workstation laptop with 64GB of RAM. If you do leave it grinding on a task, it can get hot enough that you can even feel it on the keys...which to me is more of an issue than that it throttles and runs tasks more slowly. But I don't use this as a main workstation, it's just a device for "when I need to do an apple thing" (e.g. create builds of computer code to test that they work on Macintosh).I'm happy enough with it--and feel it was a better choice to get this than a M4 mini. I considered the mini, but the convenience of being able to use and administrate it with an attached screen and keyboard just made it worth paying extra to have a little portable device I could apply to more scenarios. Though given that a lot of my work is in Linux Virtual Machines and using lots of memory, it won't be my my daily driver...and even on tasks when the performance can rival/exceed the ThinkPad P17, the keyboard and screen real estate aren't enough for anything but short sessions.

I bought it for the light weight and portability.
Mac vs PC is a matter of preference. I like that it's a lighter weight, better battery and more portable. I'm still getting used to Pages vs Word. This is my first Mac after years with HP and Dell, so this is a work in progress. I do not like that highlighting in Pages is so darn cumbersome and that there's no delete button ("delete" is actually backspace). Apple pays more attention to the user experience and design of the laptop itself. That's just something I appreciate.

Midnight all the way
The best colour is midnight. I couldn't go with sky blue because it's false advertisement, it's really just silver. The fingerprint thing is overblown. Naturally all darker computers are going to have more visible fingerprints, there's nothing you can do there. But the good thing about this build is that it's aluminium body and easy to clean. 1 wipe and it's gone. Unlike those cheap black gaming computers made out of plastic that are impossible to clean.

They Just keep getting better!
I'm a long time Mac user, and they just keep getting better! I went from an M1 MacBook Air to a M4 model, and it's brighter, faster, longer battery life and all around improvement. Plus, it was a great price! Less than I paid for the M1 model years back.

Amazing machine
I have an older model and when I turn this one on and started downloading stuff the speed was phenomenal blew the older model out the water as expected, watching movies on it is crystal clear with great sound quality and the price was unmatched anywhere else. Would highly recommend buying
