For the price, love it
I was able to grab one of these when they had it priced at $489. Amazing guitar for that kind of money. The finish is a little darker than how it looks in the pictures, which I am very happy about. Plays great and sounds great right out of the box, but I'm probably going to take it in for a setup to fine tune. The intonation sounds right, but I think the action could be lowered a bit. Overall the guitar looks great. The only two parts that really look cheap are the black tuning pegs and the truss rod cover. I was worried about the pickups looking cheap, but they are fine. I switched out the truss rod cover, added a black and white 5 ply pickguard, and changed the knobs to the black top hats with metal inlays. Now it really looks sharp. If this is your first Gibson or higher quality guitar and you're coming from say an Epiphone or Squier, be prepared for a change in weight. It's not horrible, but it did hurt my shoulder and arm after about an hour. That being said, I was using a standard 2" strap, I would think a wider one would provide better weight displacement and support. The gig bag that it comes with is actually very nice. Very padded. However, I still opted to buy a Gibson hard case.Only other negative I could say is that I ordered this when all the winter storms were going on, and it shipped from Pennsylvania. When it arrived (in Florida), the frets on the edge of the guitar were protruding just slightly enough to make it hard to pick up the guitar by the neck without it feeling like it was cutting me. No doubt this was due to the cold dry air shrinking the fretboard. After a couple days in 40-50% humidity and applying some Fret Doctor, the fretboard is fine now. I would say just be aware of how much humidity can impact a guitar, and that it doesn't mean that there's something wrong with it when you get it.One other note: I was looking into swapping out the pickup covers with chrome ones. With these particular pickups, you can't just swap out the cover like most humbuckers, because they built the height control into the plastic. You would have to add the bracket to the pickup and then add a chrome cover. However, after researching what people said on the interwebs, the pickups do not have the metal posts that would stick through the holes on a Gibson chrome cover. So in essence if you want that classic chrome Gibson pickup look, you would have to buy all new pickups. Wasn't worth it for me. Guitar still looks solid as is.All in all, absolute steal of a deal for a great guitar.

however the hardware of this guitar is nice and the weight feels good
I have been waiting for this to drop in price for some time. When these originally released they were around 500.00 or so but went up to 750+ for a long time. I picked this up for 430 from Sam Ash here on Amazon. This is the 2013 version as the 2014 version apparently ditched us lefties which is a shame because I prefer the zebra pickups in the 2014 version, however the hardware of this guitar is nice and the weight feels good. Some complain it is too heavy, but I like the weight. The cherry satin is nice finish. I like the flat, no frills finish. I did have to get this set up at a local guitar shop as it was a mess out of the box, but that is to be expected. It has low action, no buzz, and seems to tune well and stay tuned (so far).As a lefty, it is difficult to get your hand on a guitar and play it prior to purchase. Most of us have to settle for online purchases. At the end of the day, a guitar is a preference and personal statement. I will say that I am pleased with the purchase and feel this guitar was worth the 430.00 I paid for it. Your mileage may vary.

Solid LP for a good price
I have had for about a week now and so far so good. I have been playing acoustic guitar for some years now and haven't ever owned an electric only fooled around with a few. When I first started playing I remember going to a friends house who owned a studio LP and a marshal half stack (Tube of course) and playing, ever since then I have had the goal of one day having a similar set up. I cant say this guitar plays as well as I remember the studio playing but it does sound good and im very happy with my purchase. the only gripe I have is the action which can be fixed so that's no big deal but I just expected a lower action out of the box. Also buy strings with it, I forgot to do that and the strings it comes with are not good. all and all this 6 string will do the trick until I can afford a studio.

I can't believe well-crafted in USA mahogany, maple and real rosewood were so little money!
It seems these are disappearing in favor of the 2014 models (that cost more). I am really glad I pulled the trigger when these were on sale just before thanksgiving. Mine was shipped in perfect condition. It only needed about 15 minutes of setup to lower the action and the intonation was already pretty close. The neck is like a '50s profile; but, I have large hands and it feels right. Electronics sound good; but, the tinkerer in me wants to rip out Gibson's quick connect circuit board and wire the old fashioned way. Yes, the pickups are hot-glued into the covers; so, no easy chrome pickup cover swap. But, the real satisfaction is the solid tone this beast delivers. I've played several Les Pauls over the last 25 years and this one is so good it kinda suprised me it cost so little. Get it if you can.

Great plain US Les Paul.
I was looking for a plain LP look without compromising playability and sound. The sound is excellent and it is easy to play. Compares head to head with high end LP's- US made. Same construction than studios but without finish.- Very heavy. May be a bit too much- Thin plastic pickup covers are and look cheap- The nuts on the gear head were rattling when bought.I have seen the LPJ 2104 at a local guitar store and it seems they fixed the issues of the LPJ 2013, the simple satin finish looks better in the 14's and the pick up covers look better as well. It also has a nicer inlay.

Beautiful Guitar, except a BIT of false advertising considering ...
Beautiful Guitar, except a BIT of false advertising considering you will NOT receive this guitar with the famous cursive "Les Paul" ... it was quite a shock, to only find an "LPJ" below the Gibson logo. I think this misleading information deserves a removal of a star. I am a musician and after years of violin playing I decided to buy a guitar. This was my first one and I was very excited to find a "les paul" that was proudly "marked" as such for under a $1,000. Kind of a disappointment. Amazon fix your pictures please. Thanks.
