So, I have a 30-pin dock connector iPod and a BMW. You can't just use the standard iPod USB cable to connect the iPod in the car, you need a cable like this one. The cable itself is quite short, which surprised me initially. However, my car has a little iPod-sized pocket under the central console, and the cable is designed to connect the iPod and the car, while being short enough to stay out of the way. Once connected, you can see an "IPOD" option on the car stereo. Select that, and you can control the iPod completely from the car - you see all your playlists, and you can use the track forward and back controls too. The sound quality is great, and it charges the iPod as well. Does the job perfectly, and at a fraction of the cost of the "official" cable.

Not official but just as good as the real thing and excellent value. I would recommend this item to a friend.

Totally pleased with this purchase. It costs almost a quarter of the "official BMW" lead and works absolutely perfectly. It charges your iPod, plays the music via the stereo, and brings the details through to be controlled via the iDrive. As well as the obvious, this gives you the ability to search (for example by Artist, Album or Track), and you can even play the playlists you have already set up on the iTunes/iPod.The charge stops when the ignition is switched off so there's no danger of it draining the battery if you accidentally (or intentionally) leave the iPod in the car.The only thing it doesn't do is bring through the album-art to the display screen (which you do actually get if you plug in a USB with MP3 files and their associated art). This is no big deal as far as I'm concerned - I don't tend to drive along looking at album covers. It's the music and convenient control I'm after, and for that it's bang on.All in all, I consider this a must-have.

I purchased this cable to connect my iPod Classic to my BMW 535d, 2010 (F11) car. In short, whilst it would connect, the car kept losing connection to the iPod, and I don't think I was able to play a single song all the way through. The car would then take a few minutes to reconnect, making it basically unusable. I wondered if there was a problem with the car, but as soon as I switched to an approved BMW cable, the problem disappeared. My conclusion is that this cable was at fault, although I don't know if it is an endemic fault, or my particular cable was faulty

Works perfectly in my '59 plate X1 and my iPod Classic. With the Apple 30 pin to Lightning adapter, it also works with my iPhone and iPad - must be the Apple adapter though as I tried a cheap adapter and it didn't work.

Works well in my R56 Cooper, enables control of my ancient and long neglected 16Gb iPod touch (2G) and an 8Gb nano (3G) without issues. My only wish would be to make the cables long enough to hide the iPod in the armrest, but I guess that's pretty specific to me - and might make things a bit unwieldy.It definitely works, and well, although I'm yet to be convinced this cable-plus-iPod combo offers any real advantages over a simple USB stick with MP3s on it.

I recently bought a second-hand 2014 BMW Z4 with the BMW professional radio but without the media package option. I have an old iPod nano - unused for years - which seemed ideal to load up with music and leave in the car. This simple little connector not only allows my device to play through the car speakers it also downloads my music playlists and menus to display on the radio and allows me to control the device from the steering wheel buttons. I wasn't sure it would - but it does. Perfect - and less than £10.

worked great for about a week but now only intermittently connects to my iPod and even when it connects it fails to play any pre-chosen music and will only play my iPod on shuffle. very disappointed in its quality.

Compré un iPod Touch de 5 generación y lo quería utilizar para escuchar mu musica en mi BMW serie 1. Pregunté en BMW y por el MISMO CABLE me querían cobrar 93,70€. Por suerte encontré este cable en Amazon y lo compré sin pensarlo ya que el precio es mucho mas reducido. Tras conectar el cable al coche y al iPod lo reconoció al momento como el cable original de BMW. También decir que me ve las carpetas y se puede navegar por los menú desde los mandos del volante. Lo recomiento SIN DUDA, ya que cumple perfectamente y la calidad del sonido es muy buena.El envío y la gestión muy bueno como siempre por parte de amazon! Muchas gracias!!

Als ich das Kabel ausgepackt habe, war ich zuerst irritiert, weil explizit nur "BMW" drauf stand und ich ja einen Seat Leon fahre.Egal, es steht ja schon in einigen Rezensionen, dass es mit dem Seat Leon auch funzt... Und es stimmt, ich habe das Seat 2.2 Audiosystem (das mit dem Touchscreen) und die Bedienung über Touchscreen und Lenkrad klappt wunderbar (Lediglich manche Standard-Playlisten sind auf Englisch benannt statt wie am iPod auf Deutsch, aber damit komme ich klar).Was ich persönlich auch positiv finde: Es ist ein relativ kurzes Kabel, d.h. man hat in der Ablage vor den Anschlüssen keinen unendlichen Kabelsalat und der Pod kann auch in scharfen Kurven nicht aus der Ablage rutschen, weil ihn das Kabel zurückhält!Update: Man muss schauen, dass der Klinkenstecker am Auto richtig einrastet, sonst hat man unter Umständen Aussetzer und eine allgemein schlechte Klangqualität (bei meinem Auto rastet der Stecker scheinbar relativ schwer ein, ich dachte zuerst, der Stecker sitzt, aber mit etwas mehr Druck - nachdem der Klang übel war - war der Stecker erst richtig drin, dann passte auch der Klang wieder!)

Die einzige Schwäche ist derzeit die Ladefunktion nicht funktioniert, liegt aber nicht am Kabel sondern an der Spannung des USB Ansachluss
