Liberty Book of Home Sewing

I love looking through sewing idea books, but it's so hard to know whether you'll actually find the projects useful or not. So I usually turn to the local library, where I can check something out, flip through, and then hand it back. This was the rare book that started as a library checkout but ended up as a purchase because I just HAD to have a copy for myself! The number of projects that I consider "winners" is much higher than most similar books. The projects on my gotta-make-em list include a lightweight reusable grocery bag, a fabric flower, a fabric lampshade (really just a very long strip of fabric woven around a metal frame, incredibly simple but never occurred to me to try it!), and a cotton kimono robe. There are also some old standards like zippered toiletry bags, a tote bag, an apron, and drawstring storage bags -- very useful projects, but if you're a sewing-book addict like me, you've probably got them already in other books. This book is also quite beautiful to look at, and the sample projects in the photos are all of a gorgeous professional quality. (They give you details for which Liberty fabrics are used in the projects, but of course you can use any fabric of your own in a similar weight.) Overall, highly recommended -- it's both oh-so-pretty and oh-so-useful!

I have had a lot of customers want to buy my copy of the book so I would say it’s a good one.

I like it, comes with a few pages of printed liberty designs on paper which I cut out and used for crafting.It does tell you what fabrics to use by pattern name but its pretty easy to just use whatever fabric you have .I am not good with math at all so I wish the patterns that come with it were all ready full size but they aren't so i would just skip those, love the lampshade repair and the book covers.

Beautiful book

What really makes these projects is the beautiful fabrics that Liberty of London is known for. The book is pretty to look at, but none of the patterns are too different from what you would find for free on the internet. With one exception, the beautiful peacock pincushion, which I quickly put together. Whilst my peacock turned out lovely, he was not initially very functional. The instructions fail to mention that the design does not have a proper center of gravity, (the back tail is way too heavy) rendering my peacock to lay on his back on the shelf unless I propped him up. I have corrected the situation by performing surgery to insert a heavy round stone to keep him firmly grounded, but am disappointed that the authors of the book did not mention this very relevant fact in the instructions.If I had it to do over again, I'd just check out the book from the library to get a few ideas and enjoy the design candy and save my $20 to buy an itty bitty bit of their pricey but beautiful fabric.

Really beautiful book. Great pictures. Helpful description. Lots of details. Some of the pillows are really exquisite and easy to make.

This is a nice book, but very simple projects geared to a beginning sewist. I enjoyed looking through and will make a few of the projects.

リバティの布を使った、簡単な日用雑貨の作り方の本です。リバティプリントが特別好き、とかではないのですが表紙がステキだったのでジャケ買いです笑実物もやっぱり表紙ステキです。完成品が写真で、作り方はイラストと英文で紹介されていますが、簡単なものばかりですので英語ができなくても十分わかります。ただ、初心者向けすぎて裁縫経験者の方には物足りないと思います。紹介されているのは・クッション／クッションカバー・エプロン（数種）・バッグ（数種）・ブックカバー・携帯ケース・コサージュ・シェード・ガウン・キルト（数種）　等々こんな感じです。他にも載ってますよ。ガッシリとして重たい本です。
