Nice school project book, with lovely photos, but it is quite short
This book covers a number of man-made wonders and covers each one on a double spread of photos and text boxes. The man-made wonders included are:1. The Empire State Building2. The Taj Mahal3. The Millau Viaduct4. The Sydney Opera House5. Mount Rushmore6.The Three Gorges Dam7. Burj Khalifa8. The Panama Canal9. The Eiffel Tower10. The Bailong Elevator11. The Statue of Liberty12. The Large Hadron ColliderThere is a final double page spread for more man-made wonders, which each get a text box of information each - namely The Wieliczka Salt Mine, The Golden Gate Bridge, Christ the Redeemer and Suez Canal. The book ends with a child-friendly glossary and further information, including recommended books and websites and of course there is an index. The book is a decent enough book with nice information - it would be great for a specific school project or for a child who likes fact books, but it was a little bit underwhelming and my 8-year old read it and was ready to move on to something else quite quickly and probably won't pick it up again for a while. The book is really just 29 pages long and at the current rrp of £12.99 on its own it feels a little bit much - I would personally rather get a longer book or a set of books for this.

Nice pictures but not enough text
This book has some great pictures of many man made wonders in and a few bits of information that even I didn't know. Unfortunately, while each wonder has 2 pages dedicated to it, there are only 3 or 4 facts in text boxes on each page, making this a slightly underwhelming book for older readers or those looking for a little more on the buildings. The writing is more suited to KS2 children, though the depth of information is better for younger age groups as any KS2 school project would likely need further research. Children 7-8 years old would be able to read through the book, depending on ability, but I think anyone older would find this mildly interesting but ultimately lacking in enough information.

A great introduction to amazing engineering and building feats - just lacks pyramids.
This book is a lovely introduction to some of the amazing creations we humans have made - created to inform and enthuse younger readers. The book is a perfect balance of facts and pictures, put together within a colourful and engaging design. The sites included are mostly quite modern, the oldest being the Taj Mahal. There are places in the USA, China, Europe and more. Interesting though it is, it is rather disappointing to discover that there are no ancient wonders. They could have at least included one really old manmade wonder. But, that aside, it really is a lovely introduction to places in the wider world that will hopefully engender a lifelong interest in learning, travel and adventure.

the wonders of this world we live in..
Manmade Wonders is a great book for all those who have children who like to know how the wonders of this beautiful world we live in came about. This is a beautiful book which is richly filled with very vivid photographs which really add to this book. It is full of useful information and with the added advantage it is written for a child to understand it has proved as book which the kids have enjoyed and has already proven useful when it has come to history lessons though I would recommend it as a book which would suit Primary school age, though it is full of facts which have educated me as a reader.Happy to recommend Manmade Wonders.

A truly lovely book, well made and produced book, concise and atttactive.
A truly lovely book. Though the English is too advanced for my 4.5 year old to read, he loves being read to, looking at the pictures and hearing the stories of how these great structures were made and their history. A 10 yar old would be able to read this alone. There is a glossary of terms at the back. Well made and produced book, concise and atttactive.
