Jackie Gleason released his first Christmas album, Merry Christmas, during his run as Ralph Cramden on the Honeymooners. Collecting standards like "I'll Be Home for Christmas," & "The Christmas Song," the LP soon became a holiday classic & rose to the upper rungs of the album charts in 1956. His second smash Christmas LP 'Tis the Season was released in 1966 & features classics like "Blue Christmas." These two lounge classics have been unavailable for decades... that is until now! Relayer & Friday Music are proud to announce the first time pairing of these 2 newly remastered LP's on 1 new CD!

Insomnia's Long-Awaited Cure
As the years proceed, one may grow increasingly jaded musically during the succeeding holiday seasons. After many years, "Jingle Bell Rock" just might not jingle and one might hope that instead of coming to town, Santa Claus just might leave along with Rudolph. Having listened to Christmas and holiday music over many years, and having sunk into the depths of seasonal musical weariness, I decided to try something different: mood music. Yes, that often-scorned, sleepy-time and very bland genre, actually seemed desirable (for a change of pace). So, knowing about Jackie Gleason's contributions to the mood music college for advanced students of such dullness, I decided to take a chance and purchase this CD.If you enjoy soothing violins and vocal choruses, I don't hesitate in recommending it. It is, indeed, quite relaxing and frankly, a different take on the typical holiday musical fare. The first album, from ca. 1956, "Tis The Season" is not always Christmasy. It can be played at any time of the year. The second album, ca. 1966, has mostly well-known Christmas tunes. If you have trouble sleeping, this CD might help. It just might lull you into a semi-numb state of consciousness. Of course, this is a bit of an exaggeration. If you are looking for something different relative to what gets played on the radio this time of year, the music here is a pleasant change of pace. It's nice to listen to while relaxing with some hot cider or a glass of wine. You won't want to get up and start "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree." Recommended for those who crave the pleasant, but to many boring, atmosphere of mood music.

"The Great One" does Christmas!
Jackie Gleason was more than a tv star known for his role as Ralph Kramden in "The Honeymooners". He was the consumate professional entertainer who had exacting direction when it came to music. During the fifties and sixties he produced a wide range of beautiful, relaxing music with some very unique titles which were best-sellers. When the Christmas season approached he wanted to give his audience the same quality seasonal music he was already known for and he surpassed his genius in this regard. I bought these albums on LP as a teenager and played them every Christmas. I was happy to see them transferred to cd and now, forty plus years later, I still enjoy these beautiful sounds and melodies as I trim my tree and decorate my home. Music-wise for me, Christmas and "The Great One" go hand in hand. What better way to celebrate the holidays than with Jackie Gleason....And Away We Go!

Good ol' Jackie Gleason
I'm a 37 year old orchestra/instrumental music lover. It's theme music for my life! My mom introduced me to Jackie Gleason music and I've been in love ever since. This Christmas album is great. There's nothing like the Jackie Gleason sound.

Christmas with the Great One
What a beautiful cover for this wonderful album. Many familiar Christmas and holiday songs and some new ones which were truly enjoyable to listen to. The Story of a Starry Night ended the second part of the CD and was so pretty and enjoyable. It was a first for me to hear this Christmas Carol, and was glad to have heard it this way with Mr. Gleason. It was packaged nicely and had such lovely scenes on the front and back of the case, as I am using it as a decoration in my kitchen by the CD player. An early decoration for the upcoming season. Thanks for the memories and Shangri-la for the listeners. His theme song of long ago.

CAN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS!
The Great One is back with his Santa hat on. This is the third Christmas CD from the Jackie Gleason collection I have purchased. His music was unavailable for a long time, but now thanks to Amazon it is being offered to us "Honeymooners" fans again. Sultry, smooth jazz background music for a holiday gathering or just curling up on the sofa with some hot chocolate on a cold winters night in December or otherwise. I have said it before and I will say it again....there will never be the likes of Jackie Gleason's beautiful music again. His music is a diamond that will sparkle through all eternity. God Bless you Jackie, where ever you are!

A different kind of Christmas music!
I had the "Tis the Season' CD and lost it somehow. It is nice to have both albums on one CD.I can now place this CD on while we 're getting ready for bed and not worry about the music stopping before we want it to. Sometimes it's hard to believe this is Christmas music played in much slower way than normal.I would rate this a very solid 8.0 to 8.5 out of 10. Recommended for lovers of Christmas looking something different. This is also good 'mood' music. Jackie Gleason fans will also enjoy this CD!

Nice and Easy!
This is a very peaceful and relaxing disc of Christmas music. I had no idea that Jackie Gleason even did music, but what a nice surprise! This is one of those albums that from the moment it starts to play it takes your troubled thoughts away. Now, just add a lit Christmas tree, fireplace, and a drink of choice, and your favorite person to cuddle up with, and you will have the Merriest Christmas ever! No kidding, it is that nice. Caution: If you listen to this alone you will be asleep before the last track plays. In other words, buy it. You won't be sorry!

Oh How Sweet it is-an unbeatable Christmas Treat
Jackie Gleason-Tis the Season, marks the debut of BOTH his Xmas albums on one CD.He first released Tis' the Season in /56 and 10 years later released Merry Christmas. These are not recordings taken from 78's or albums, but restored and remastered recordings from the original Capitol tapes! Wow.The first album contains those /50s luscious strings and Bobby Hackett sound. For the second one Gleason has added background vocals enhancing the lead lines of the strings. And it is all in glorious stereo. If I were you I would snap this CD up as quick as you can.Although it is quite a ways from Christmas as I write this,I decided the closer it got the less chance I would have of ever picking it up.I think this is going to be,and deservedly so,a HUGE seller.Bless you Mr.Gleason for your huge talent and the beautiful memories you have given the world.

Tis the Season/Merry Christmas / Jackie Gleason 1 CD
Tis the Season/Merry Christmas
