Works brilliantly with a touch of silicone oil
After some months' daily use, the timer stopped working. By this, I mean that it simply stopped ticking at a random number of minutes, even if I wound it up to 60 minutes first and then set it to for example 25 minutes. Also, it seemed to be inaccurate. I thought I would have to buy another pomodoro timer (that's what I use it for) which I didn't want, because I really like this one. Then it occurred to me that maybe I could *gasp* FIX it. And it was so easy. Which is why I'm writing it here. All you need is a silicone oil spray. My husband said that other oils may damage the plastic parts in there (and most of the parts are plastic).1. Wind it all the way up so it is ticking.2. Pull it apart carefully. Take note of all the little parts, holes and pins and how they click into each other since you'll have to put it back together again. (This is where I realized that this thing has no batteries. Of course. But hey, I don't have a lot of things that can move only from kinetic energy. So, of course, it needs a little maintenance to work.)3. At some point you won't be able to disassemble it further. But you don't have to go get a screwdriver. Just locate the part that is moving rapidly. This is the area where the spring is. Stick the spray just inside the gap (see photo) and spray a mist of silicone oil into this gap. 1 or 2 short sprays will do.4. Use the glass lid to turn the timer back to zero so that it rings.5. Assemble the parts again. Every part has to click into place. After I did this, the timer worked beautifully. It is accurate. It even sounds better! So satisfying to listen to while I work. I'm guessing it will last for years and years if it has an annual oil treatment. Now I get to keep my favourite timer - I hope you will too.Reduce - Reuse - Recycle (And repair)

Little but simple to use charmer, needs instructions.
It's always the simple things that work best and this Timer is an example of this. Arrived early so off to a good start. Tried it a few times but their was no PING at the end. Got a bit annoyed at this, so went onto the Amazon website to see if it should PING. A previous reviewer had the same problem but on reading the instructions found that it has to be wound right round to 60 or 0, then back to the time you want. This winds up the timer bell. This worked, so happy again. BUT, mine did'nt have instructions with it so if I had'nt gone back to the website and read the review I would have sent it back and then the replacement and so on ... However, sorted and well pleased with it.Using the Red marker to see how much time is left can be seen right across the kitchen and the bell is enough to wake you up and does not go on forever. Digital timers you need to be close to read the digits and some may have to put reading glasses on, not with little gem. Good buy, recommend to anyone especially the older person. ( yes, I'm old )

Best time I've ever had
Love this - it's so clear and simple. Tried a lot of electronic ones over the years and this beats them all hands-down. Just a quick twist of the dial all the way round to 60 and then back to the time you need... no infuriating buttons that seemingly don't do anything and then you push harder and the numbers run away too fast and you have to reset and try all over again. No forgetting to press start with sticky button again that you keep pressing start/stop/start... You can't forget to start this one because it doesn't need it. Then I slap this on the cooker hood and can see the time-to-go from all around the room: I don't have to go over and peer at the little grey numbers on the electronic devices especially when the batteries start to fade.Has a good pleasant bell-ring, not silly beeping.

Neat kitchen timer
Simple clear display that is easy to set and easy to read remaining time from a distance. The mechanical ticking sound helps show it is running. I have not tested its accuracy. The only downside is the buzzer is short duration and not particularly loud. Sufficient if working nearby but needs to be louder if distracted or in an adjacent room.Good value for money.

great except for short times (5-10min)
Really neat looking, easy to read, nice with the red indicator thingy, so you can see from afar how much time is left. Also loud enough alarm. Where this loses 2 stars is that it cannot "handle" 5minutes - when I set it to 5min, it consistently rings at around 3 minutes - then ticks to end without a sound. Also, with a 10min timer it rings approx 30sec-1min early, but that's more tolerable. Yet I am not going to return it cos it's otherwise functional.

Time's up.
It works and handles easily. The magnet is pretty strong staying put on the side of my boiler. The alarm bell is loud enough to hear from a room away but could do with going on a little longer or perhaps intermittently until manually turning off. A simple, effective device that does what it's supposed to do.

Shame it is now broken.
A great timer with nice load ring when time is up. However, the time was up for the timer just 16 months from new. You would think it not possible to break something so simple. The spring coil has obviously broken inside and unrepairable. It really should last more than 16 months.Looking elsewhere for a similar but longer lasting timer.

Satisfying timer that works
I love this little timer. I love the fact it's mechanical and is satisfying to use. It doesn't keep on ringing (which I prefer - just long enough to let you know) I can hear it in another room near the kitchen which is enough for me. Best bit is that it works and it ticks like an old fashioned clock!! I've had electronic ones that are rubbish or decide to stop working only a few months in. This looks like it will got on for ages despite already being dropped on the floor several times!
