Talk German 1 (Book/CD Pack): The ideal German course for absolute beginners

Bought fir a friend who was looking forward to learning this language. Seems to work!!

This is a fantastic little course. I've studied French AS and Spanish GCSE and really wanted a course that would help me understand, retain and be able to communicate. I was pleasantly surprised that I could read the German and understand every word in the control point which I hadn't been able to do at that stage of other languages. The shopping and departments are quite hard to retain (for me) but I understand what they mean when seeing them (just not to say yet.) I've really enjoyed the course too and it's great at building confidence. I have talk 2 so will be moving onto that (after approx a fortnight of spending an hour a night working and listening.) I find languages challenging so am delighted by that. I recommend ripping the vocab tracks separately so you can have them on repeat.Fantastic course, I'll be going back to purchase the French and Spanish for reference!Sehr gut!

A very encouraging start for those students wishing to learn German. The programme is well planned and easy to follow. Looking forward to Talk German 2.

I love this but check out Paul Nobles tuition too! I learned even faster with his audio course. However, this BBC Talk series are really effective and live up to their claims too. I guess it depends on whether you want to learn holiday German, them choose this one, or more in-depth German them perhaps Paul Nobles.

Good book made better by the well presented CD. So many language books don't seem to help a student with pronunciation without a good grasp of which you are going to have problems in communication, unless you are only learning a new language to write and read it only - which in my situation was most certainly not the case - and this book was extremely helpful in that regard.Obviously this is a starter book but it will certainly point you in the right direction if you want to go further.

It's easy to follow and divided in to manageable amounts of information to learn and remember as you work through.

Excellent for absolute beginners. Used to teach Italian Beginners as well and was very successful. You can also use it in connection with the website for interactive work.
