Wasn't sure if I was wasting my time based on some of the reviews but I'm pleased to say I wasn't. We had a large invasion of flies this summer because of all the close livestock. But I was impressed with how well these worked. Much better than spraying fly killer all around the place. We caught hundreds of the little pests. So many that 2 of the papers were smothered in them. Not sure how some found a sticky area to land on. But that's their problem. Definitely getting more of these. Hope they work for gnats too because we've now got an army of these that think I'm their main course!

I ordered these after a cheaper unbranded box of fly paper proved useless and I am glad I did. They are VERY sticky, and once hung somewhere the flies land regularly I have found they soon start collecting the tiny menaces like the couch collects lost change. The strips themselves won't attract the flies so placement is key, if you put them up right away from where the flies are landing they won't do diddly squat, and yes, a strip of dead flies stuck to glue is unattractive but often hanging them near (not too near!) the light or in a clear space helps as the light seems to draw them in and it gives the flies a landing place with clear access. Blocking the access to your house with fly mesh on windows is a good plan to stop future issues if possible, but good fly paper will help remove the existing adults without nasty sprays that could be harmful to you and any pets. Unrolling them slowly works better as if you yank the whole roll of paper may come unstuck from inside the tube in a lump (I left this on to weigh them down so they don't coil back up), and they come with a drawing pin to hang them with but the ribbon loop means use with an existing hook or nail would work. I use an old sheet of newspaper to take them down and roll up inside before disposal so they can't stick to anything else. I've given them four stars as the glue had seeped out of one or two and made the box rather sticky on arrival, I just used cheap gloves to remove them then unroll and hang so it wasn't a major inconvenience considering how well they have worked, but the glue can need a bit of scrubbing to get off skin so if this happens a dab of olive oil helps.

These worked really well!! I never even got them out of their covers and all the flies had fled and have not returned to my conservatory!!! Magic?

Did catch about half of the problem flies over the Summer and the warm spell at the end of Summer/ beginning of Autumn but far from 100% effective (I'd say 50-60% effective) and somewhat unsightly when flies do eventually stick. Cheap but probably better solutions available. An alternative solution I sometimes use is to wait until nuisance fly lands on a surface (window panes are best) and then quickly blast them with a spray window cleaner (water in a spray bottle might work as well). Then they can't take off and fall onto the window sill and start crawling. Then you can simply squash and bin them with a bit of kitchen towel. You also end up cleaning your window at the same time - as long as you remember to wipe the bit you sprayed.
