JFK [Blu-ray] [1992]

Whether you believe Oswald shot JFK alone or as part of a political conspiracy, this movie will make you think about all the unexplained cirumstances around the event. The film chronicles Jim Garrison's search for the truth from the point of view of a concerned New Orleans district attorney. A classic film which brings to light the fact that Oswald was no mere crazed loner but a man with a military and political past with unprecedented priviledges. That alone should make us reassess how the history of this event is recorded.

Kevin Costner is on top form. All acting and directing support the frighteningly real hypothesis that John F Kennedy was assassinated by elements of the US military-industrial complex. If I were a juror and the US government was on trial, on hearing the evidence presented in this film I would have no hesitation in returning a guilty verdict.The film was made in 1991 and watching it I was struck by the echoes of what is happening in our world today, and how if a new president has the courage to follow in JFK's footsteps they could likely meet the same fate.Highly recommended viewing.

I was nearly six when JFK was assassinated and its my first real memory. I've watched countless movies and documentaries over the years, always hoping to glean more details. This movie was first rate. The script, the acting, the direction - all were superb. Although not a 'sitting on the edge of your seat" thriller, it certainly has some very tense moments - in particular Costner's Summing Up. I can only hope that all the evidence is realised in 2029 and that I am still around to hear what really happened. Highly recommended!

Brilliant film...but the copy I bought was, as promised, in widescreen... but it was formatted to a 4:3 ratio, so watching it on my TV, it was just a small rectangle in the middle of the screen. Paid very little for it so just threw it straight in the bin, if you're going to buy JFK (which you should, it's a superb film!) be sure to check it's not some old release from the days when square TV's were a thing!

If you like documentary style films, which are about important historical events played by the best actors in the industry by a director who has full command of his art, then this is the film for you. The over 3 hours film flew by, and can be picked up at any point in the film. It is essentially a whodunnit film with heart and scarily as we see Donald Trump ousted from the White House, for not engaging the military industrial complex into another war, we can see past sins repeating themselves. An attempt at a stolen election? I wouldn't bet against it. See this film if you're American or just care for justice on our planet. It'll take you through every step.

DVD version bought.I love this film. Aside from whether it's factually accurate, as a movie it is superb. Brilliantly filmed and mixes real and fake footage together so you are sometimes unsure which is which.My only problem is that the DVD version is not widescreen. On a proper TV it looks awful. Also the film quality is terrible. It looks like a poor VHS TV recording made 20 years ago. I don't mind watching DVDs instead of Blu-ray as I don't find the quality difference a big issue; however this offering is really bad. I haven't tried the Blu-ray version of JFK but I would suggest getting that instead.
