Let's Get It On Mass Market Paperback – 18 September 2008

...to say that I didn't like this book. Kenya and Maurice, I'm sorry to say, were not meant to be. I wish (spoiler alert) she would have died. That would have mad me so happy (and that's really sad). You either love the man or you don't. You can't keep going back and forth on it. You were stuck on this man for so many years but when you get him back, you try to push him away... constantly? That makes no sense. I understand the hesitation at first... and even when Lauryn showed back up I would have questioned some things too... but the pattern of the story was argue, break-up, sex, argue, break-up, sex ,etc. Love is hard because you have to keep working on it. But it should never be complicated...That said, I can't say that I had any major issues w/ Maurice aside from the fact that he was in love with a woman who didn't seem to want him. Aside from that, he seemed like a great hero... just think he was trying to save the wrong female. (<lol bad joke)Aside from Maurice, the redeeming quality of the book is the beginning... the set up to everything was done beautifully. I'm just upset with the let down.All in all, I feel the story/love got lost in the repetitive nature of the plot. The back and forth angered me. I would have to say, Don't buy this book, get it from the library.I know Ms. Hodges can do better than this because I've seen/read it. Still going to finish reading her whole library and I won't hold this against her.On to James' story.

This story was full of drama between high school and college sweethearts Kenya and Maurice. She caught him in bed with another woman and left college to get away from all the drama. Maurice becomes a big NFL football star and the woman he was caught with is set to become his bride. At the wedding, she leaves him because she is in love with her best friend Mya. After all that drama he runs into Kenya again while vacationing to get his mind off the wedding drama. She still loves him but rejects him at first and then they are on and off after that so much that it looks like they will not make it as a couple because of all the past drama and Lauryn comes back in the picture to stir things up. A tragedy happens that the couple will have to overcome at the end and you will have to read the book to find out what happens. Despite Kenya's doubts that she has a hard time dealing with and all the breaking up and getting back together drama, this was a pretty good read especially a the end of the story.

This is the follow up to the Maurice and Kenya story--(eBook only)... about how the romance began for the couple. The story picks up nine years after Kenya and Maurice have gone separate ways after college- Maurice plays for the NFL Panthers. Kenya is a Lawyer. The story meet again when Kenya decides to take a vacation to the Bahamas at the same time Maurice makes the same decision for a vacation.Maurice and the floozy Lauren ended their fake relationship- She left him at the alter!!! The story has so many twists and turns between the Maurice, Lauren, and Kenya, that at some point I wanted to scream. Hang in there- and it will be okay. Kenya deserved better.. The Next installment is called The End of Us!! Let's just see!

This is the first book I've read by this author and it left me disappointed. I've heard good things about her so I decided to purchase this book. I was interested in the story and wanted to see how everything came together. I was enjoying the book before I noticed the pattern. It was that every few chapters or so Kenya would break it off with Maurice and then Maurice would kiss her and talk her back into being with him. Now the main reason I did not care for that was because Kenya would say same pretty much the exact same thing each time. Second, there comes a point when Kenya should have just finally let it go and trusted Maurice. After awhile I would roll my eyes and Kenya and agree with Maurice. I feel as though if Kenya kept having second, third, and fourth thoughts then they should have been different, a different layer to the big picture if you will. I still look forward to reading her books in the series. I hope her writing styled has grown

Okay if you are like me when you saw the title of the book my first thought was Marvin Gaye. The title is perfect for the book.This book was so good when you pick this book up you will not be able to put the book down until you have finished. I couldn't complete my work because I wanted to finished the book. Kenya & Maurice have been childhood friend since forever. Kenya has been in love with Maurice since she was 9 years old but Maurice never didn't know. Through out the year Maurice feeling for Kenya has begin to change but he never acted on them until time for them to go to prom. Once Kenay & Maurice decided to become a couple she had already committed to going to the prom with someone else but only as a friend. Although comtinue to be a couple through high school and college in their last year of college something happen and they broke up. Kenya thought her and Maurice would be together forever but nothing last forever. Kenya became a lawyer and Maurice went on to play in the NFL. Maurice is at the height of his career and in the process of getting married. He has been with his finance for 9 yrs and are in the process of planning her wedding and she wants Maurice to propose to her on the air. Now mine you Kenya is still bitter and angry over the way things went down with her and Maurice and in the process Kenya has had her problem to deal with. The day of his wedding everything is going great until someone stop the wedding and leave Maurice standing at the alter. He then goes into a depression after every one as witness this and hiding out in his apartment. Everybody is worry about him until his brother James come to check on him and talk him into going on the honeymoon that was plan since it is non-refundable so him and James hopes a plane on there way. In the mean time Kenya has been offer a job offer that will take her back to the one place she does want to go North Carolina where Maurice still live, but before she accepts this offer she decided to go on a much needed vacation and guess who she runs into her first love. There are still SPARKS between them and after all this time Kenya realize that she is still in love with Maurice and never stop, and Maurice knows how much he hurt Kenya and for the longest he has wanted to tell her I sorry he was. Maurice realize early on that he had made a mistakes when he had Kenya had broken up in college. Maurice decided that he and Kenya deserve another chance and Maurice tries his best to let Kenya know this but she has trust issue when it come to Maurice and also the fact that his ex wants to pop back into his life. The ex does calls problem with them but in the end their LOVE IS STRONG. Can't give to much of the book away but you are going to love it and there are a few surprises as well. I recommend this book.
