Start of second trilogy is fast paced thriller with some good unexpected twist.
This story is PG15 due to graphic violence and intense emotional havoc aka Dan Wells brought it again. It's a different story now because despite his struggles John Cleaver feels more like a hero than ever and it is interesting to see the emotional havoc he has to deal with.Of course this is not a happy story but it is a good deep one with plenty of character development and great side characters to see John have to interact with as himself. The setting could be any place small town America and we dont really get picture of it. The plot though kept me in gauged and a really felt for the characters. It is to say anything about the story without spoiling the fun, but if you enjoyed the first trilogy and want to see where it took John and Brook afterward this is a great read. However you don't need to have read the first trilogy to enjoy this. It helps though because of the sheer depth and growth of the character.

Well that was an action packed and bloody continuation to the John Cleaver series. The added cast was a nice touch and Dan Wells brought them in as if they were always a part of the series. I think the stakes in this one were so much higher then previous books. Especially with how everything came to an end. I don't even know how to really review this for you guys since this is the fourth book but man oh man was that a mind boggling ending. John Cleaver has become one of my new favorite characters because of the fact that he is struggling with APD and Dan Wells does such a great job at handling the mental illness aspect of his books. We even get to see the effects of Dissociative Identity Disorder which is also handled and dealt with very well. I am trying to take my time with this series but each book is like adrenaline for me and I just want more. Really saddened by the fact that there are only 2 more books to read!

Start of another trilogy
This series continues to amaze me. With every release I am afraid that the author Dan Wells will find the need to make John more likable. Don't get me wrong, I like John. I like him because of how twisted he can be. The anger and rage boiling in his character always makes for an entertaining book. This one does feel quite different then the other three. I thought the first three were mystery horror novels. This one felt more Fantasy then anything. Still a heavy dose of mystery and horror drive the plot. There is a good deal more world building about the demons that inhabit Johns story. They make this book feel more Epic than the previous entries. If I had to nitpick I would say that to many of the supporting cast are a tad bit cliched and one dimensional. There is enough with them to get a good feel but that was the weakest portion of this story to me.Still it is John that I read this for and he doesn't disappoint! Spending time in his head can be frightening, but it is never dull. Throw in a great plot that kept me guessing all the way to the end and you have another great John Cleaver book. I know the author is hard work on Book 5 right now and I cannot wait to see what future plans he has for John!

All for One and One for All?
John Cleaver is back at it again hunting down Witherers, but this time he's not doing it all alone. With Brooke's ability to thumb through Nobody's memories and the secret task force of the FBI, the odds are looking better for humanity. That is until the bodies around town start to number and there is no trace of cause of what may have killed them. Tensions are high between the team and Brooke's mind begin to shift without control, it's a race against the clock to figure all the clues and solve the mystery. John has always done things like this by himself but will he be able to be a real team player and work well with others or is it even enough to stop this new string of killings?

A wonderful start to a new trilogy.
I heard Dan Wells' say that he had conceived the John Cleaver series as a trilogy, and would only return to the world if he had a story that justified it. This story does that and more. This was probably my favorite book of the six. It lays out higher stakes in the world that was created. It forces the main character into uncomfortable and unusual situations, and lets the reader see it all. I loved reading this book, and could not put it down.

Not Bad But Very Spin-off Like
My honest review is it felt more of a spin-off than anything. Badass unit of hunters killing the monsters, sound familiar eh? Still, it wasn't bad. John remains a interesting main lead just like the other 3 titles. I really did enjoy some side characters while others felt a little to forced. Overall by the end I was happy but kind of felt empty. Like I feel we could have pushed the storyline even more, throw in better twist, but it was a fun read and I'll no doubt grab the next.

John Cleaver is back, and I'm so happy.
More like 4.5 stars. It wasn't quite as good as I Don't Want to Kill You, but that might just be because that was the culmination of a series and this is basically the beginning of a new one. But it was still John Cleaver. And he is still trying to figure out who he is and how to deal with his emotions or lack thereof. I really enjoyed how the new characters brought out the inner turmoil John's been dealing with through all the books. His own issues were brought closer to the forefront: Is he any different from any other serial killer? Does whether or not he's "right" make him somehow better, more justified? It was also interesting to see how he attempted to deal with Marci's death, and what happened with Brooke after surviving what she went through in the previous book. Basically, this was another awesome John Cleaver novel, and I'm now rather upset that I have to wait for the next one to come out.

Just keeps getting messier...
The body count skyrockets in this one, so be aware of that. Still, the story is fast and thrilling, and, while the sociopath angle ceases to be as important, there's plenty of action to take it's place.

Pas de traduction Française encore.
Vu que le bouquin n'est pas encore sortie en France, je l'ai donc acheté en anglais.Pas déçu, histoire toujours intéressante et un John Clever toujours en proie face à ses démons aussi bien intérieures que réelles.
