Diezel VH4 Guitar Distortion Effects Preamp Guitar Effects Pedal

I would absolutely love to have a VH4 amp of my very own, but the price tag is hard to stomach for someone of my economic status. This pedal (amp's third channel only) is a wonderful compromise. I am a huge Adam Jones fan and have been trying to achieve a signal similar to his Crystal-clear overdrive/distortion tone for a long time (without breaking the bank). I have had issues with the low E string (tuned to drop D, of course) sounding super muddy when overdrive is engaged. Yes, I tried EQ pedal(backing off the lows made the signal sound super thin), yes, I have studied my guitar/ pickups/ Amp model's individual tonal characteristics, and yes, I am aware of how picking dynamics play a role in overall clarity.Taking all of those factors into account, the VH4-2 pedal has giving me what I have been missing (...A VH4's third channel... lol). Whether played in front of or behind your tube amp, this pedal will give you that "clear" high mids distortion signal without cutting out too much of the low end-- keeping the signal feeling full (Of course other big name artists use the VH4 so this pedal can definitely assist you in replicating their tones as well). Both channels of the pedal are very responsive to your picking dynamics and the tone/ level pots give you a very wide range of saturation/ frequency combinations. Also, she's a big one and will need more pedal board space than many other pedals out there. In any case, if you are like me: on a budget and like to play within that zone where rock isn't hard enough and heavy metal is just too much, this pedal is for you!!! Enjoy!

The 15 minutes I got to play through this before the first master volume stopped working it was absolutely amazing unfortunately I have to return it lol. There are a lot of people on here saying it doesn’t sound good in all of this and that I’m willing to bet they’re not playing through the best gear. This pedal will not make your $500 set up sound like a $5000 set up. You have to use a decent amp and speaker set up. My current situation is a Marshall DSL 20 watt head and 2 x12 slanted cab with 150 W Celestion red back and a Celestion vintage 70 W. It definitely will turn a decent tube amp in to a hi gain monster. and everyone wanting to sound like the guy from tool using this needs to remember he has a lot of money and a lot of studio equipment to work with to get his sound lol this is not gonna make you sound like him. All in all this is essentially an amp the box with the right amp attached if you know what I mean.

I bought the pedal to use as a pre-amp in the return fx on my engl savage 120 mark II head. I should have listened to other reviews that said when you mute the pedal, it kills the entire chain making your main amp head channels useless. I tried to use the pedal in front of the amp but didn't care for it there either. Now, when using this pedal as a pre-amp, you cannot deny the low-end that this thing produces. I loved the low end but no matter what other settings I used, the pedal sounded like it had a blanket over it. I added an Mesa Boogie 5 band eq pedal after the VH4-2 pedal on I was able to make it sound very good at that point. Unfortunately, for the price, I returned this pedal because if it is used as a pre-amp, it makes all other channels on your amp useless, and the blanketed sound.

I was not looking for it to sound like an actual VH4, so that is not my point of reference here. I was looking for something that would get me some of the way there and that would also be high quality with 2 useable gain settings. After 1 week, I am still learning how to set the Presence vs Treble. These are the key controls to find a more open, dimensional sound that is not flakey or too crispy....also you should know I have yet to krank it up in my rehearsal room...just using at home at lower volumes so far....also, there seems to be a dead spot in the presence control at around 12:30 or 1:00 on the dial - very strange and unexpected.I think there is a wide range of useable sounds in this pedal....you could FOR SURE find many useable tones to record in the studio. I also like what I am hearing so far on both “channels”. I think it is a useable, good pedal and I will update this once I get it to gig volumes and see what it is capable of. Stay tuned....my rating is preliminary

Diezel VH4-2, Sounds like Metallica distortion. I have been into Metal music for centuries so according to my analysis how Metallica produces the sound of guitars is way more superior than any other band out there. I have been digging into distortion voicing for years, This VH4-2 happens to be my favorite sounding pedal. Bogner's Uberschall is also good for classic rock but does not have amount of gain as VH4 pedals, still good pedal in that lineup with its unique type of sound. Anyway, great job Diezel engineers making this VH4 awesome pedal for us. I just it will last a while because its is an expensive pedal.

If you want to sound like Tool, this is the pedal, amazing sound and excelent build quality, this is an amazing pedal.

I'm running through the clean channel of my jcm800 combo and it sounds spot on.. set pretty much everything to 9 o'clock and pin the mids.. it's that crisp metal tone that every tool fan searching for

Being a Tool fan, I had to try this pedal.I will say it gets you on the right path if you are chasing Adam Jones tone. It is very organic and amp sounding.However, I sent it back. After using it for a few days, I started getting more and more ear fatigue even at low volume. Something in the eq was just unpleasant to my ears. Really disappointing as I loved the sound of the pedal.

Excelente sonido, no hace ruido al dejar de tocar, solo un poco de estática que dejarás de notar después de lo aturdido que quedas después de tocar jajaja. El volumen no es muy respondido, funciona de la siguiente manera: 1,2,8,9,9.1,9.2 y 10, si lo usas como preamp básicamente tocaras al máximo del volumen de tu ampli, puedes usar un pedal de volumen para controlarlo. A decir verdad el volumen reacciona más como un booster para la distorsión. Pero el sonido es increíble. Tengo un ht metal de blackstar y se queda corto contra este pedal.

昔某店員さんと自分が求める『Edgeが効いていて尚且つBottomもちゃんと出るAMPメーカー』について尋ねた所に出てきたのが今回のDiezelです。流石にAMP HEADは使いこなせないし置き場所も活躍する場もないのでDiezelから出ているペダルを比較検討、今回VH4-2に決めて購入しました。決め手となったのは次の理由です。①GainとMaster Volumeが2ch仕様なのは使い方の選択肢が先発版のVH4よりも格段に増える②同じDiezelの"Herbert"と弾き比べした動画からVH4-2の方が音抜けが良かったと判断した実際届いてからGuitar（LesPaul Type）と自宅用練習AMPの間に繋いだら、Gain値が12時の方向だったにも関わらずハウる位のHi-Gain！各コントロールツマミを調整して改めてこのVH4-2の魅力が分かりました。正に『Edgeが効きつつしっかりとBottom感もある』使い勝手の良いペダルです。DiezelはHard Soundの方面で有名かと思いますが、どちらかのチャンネルのGain値を下げたらBackingとSolo、又はHard Partと Crunch Partと使い分けも出来そうです。今後実際にリハーサルスタジオで音出しするのが楽しみです♬

迷いに迷って買った1品人並み以上に音に拘ってる方だと思いますが、これを購入後はもうヘッドアンプはいらなくない？ってくらいDieselです！各所のライブハウス、スタジオが所有してあるだろうM○rshallのヘッドに合わせても間違いない音を出してくれます。自分の中でのキーはDeepの調整です。ラウド、ハードコア、メロコア、ロック、幅広いジャンルに使えると思ってます。今後このDieselを超える歪系の足元は見つからないかもしれません。ポチるか迷い中の貴方のお役に立てますように⭐︎

Definitely sounds better used as a preamp in the loop instead of in front of a clean channel.
