Works well enough, but a brighter one would be better.
We bought this to replace our "mothership" (many LED's in a circle) hanging tent lamp that had batteries corrode beyond recovery. These seemed to be a good replacement for that, but a bit small. But it came in a 2-pack, so we could hang two if needed. One of these was used on a recent camping trip. It worked as expected, but not as well as the mothership used to work. However, it only used one LED, and less power. We didn't get to use two, but in theory placing these in two places across from each other would work better than a central light. Time will tell. I might look for an alternative lamp for this purpose in the future, but this works well enough that I won't be looking for a while.

These camping lamps are very utilitarian. They take 3 AA batteries under the battery compartment right under the top lid. The lid locks back in place securing the batteries inside and making the lamp a compact emergency light source.There is a handle on top that folds away. I use the handle to stand the lamp at at angle projecting the light to wall and the ceiling away from my eyes. The lamp turns on by pressing the center of the front lens. It only has one setting (super bright). The lamp can be hanged by the handle or laid flat on its back after putting the handle on its storage position (flush with the back). I find these lamps very useful at home for emergency power failure or to illuminate those areas away from a light source.
