Best LED Dimmable Spots -EVER- and That's A Long Time
2019-04 After 18-months, these are starting to fail, with failure defined as no longer producing any light.Previous review:I have been buying LED spots and floods since they first appeared on the market. They have always been expensive and made unjustified claims of life expectancy and lighting effectiveness. No matter what I had spent in the past, I would be replacing lights that were too dim to cast a shadow or just out. Life expectancy is not what it was claimed. The other factor I found was the narrow projection of light. Even the widest bulbs produced an island of light on my basement floor surrounded by an ocean of dimly lit carpeting. These bulbs were recommended by my electrician, and they rock. Perfect light color warmth, great wide angle and gone are the oceans of dim carpet. My electrician lost the job of adding recessed lights to fill in the dark spaces, but gained a customer for his life expectancy. :)

Halogen Replacement! You've found it!
I'm converting my whole house to LED's. One of the trickiest conversions was the motion sensor halogen bulbs that I had by my front door. I tried 2 different LED brands from the store and they both just blinked once every second. Not rapidly, like very slowly. I eventually noticed that having a single halogen and a single LED bulb worked just fine! But I wanted to get rid of the last halogen bulb too. I finally found some other reviewers post where he said he had luck with this CREE bulb in his halogen fixture. A bit pricey, but I feel compelled to convert everything to LED, so I ordered one (It helped that some quick back of the envelope math suggested it would pay for itself in 18 months.)So I got the CREE bulb and man, you can tell it's quality through and through, it's at least twice as heavy as the other LED bulb with thicker glass and is also a bit more efficient in lumens to watts. When I went to install the new CREE LED bulb I took out the halogen (my old led bulb started the blinking again), I inserted the new CREE LED bulb (blinking stopped) and everything was back to normal! So it looks like the CREE bulb's electronics are able to mimic a normal bulb much better. And the cheap Ecosmart bulbs only function on normal non-motion detecting light fixtures (unless you combine one of each like I did :).

Hums/buzzes incredibly noticeably even when at full brightness
SECOND FINAL UPDATE (heh): Just over a year in, one of these is dead. I suppose I'll have to contact CREE for a warranty replacement... but the entire idea to begin with was to choose bulbs which would not need to be replaced often (since they're nearly 20 ft. high in our Great Room).FINAL UPDATE: The dimmer, while expensive, did indeed correct the problem. I chose one of the nicest Lutron dimmers on the market and the bulbs are now silent and dim properly.UPDATE: I have contacted Cree's customer service who was friendly and responsive. They've suggested that I replace my dimmer, so I'm going to try a different model of Lutron dimmer and see what results. I'll update my review accordingly thereafter! Not even remotely quiet, regardless of manufacturing claims. Paired with a Lutron dimmer (one of the newest and best, listed as compatible) the hum is so loud while the A/C is off that we have been switching off the lights. Too bad, too, because otherwise these bulbs look terrific -- bright and nice temperature/CRI.I will be contacting the manufacturer to see how/if they can resolve this.

Poor longevity -- and possibly dangerous.
I bought three of these Cree bulbs for use in my kitchen 18 months ago. All three have failed, with the last one literally "burning out" this morning. As you can see from the above image, the contact point of the bulb actually melted in the socket, causing sparks and a good deal of smoke. Fortunately, the circuit breaker tripped before the socket ignited!Cree has a different (newer?) model (TPAR38-1803040FH25-12DE26-1-E1) that I used to replace the failed bulbs. I haven't had any issues with them. Still, after this morning's adventure, I'll reevaluate purchasing this brand.

This bulb rocks!
We got this bulb when a 2 year-old Syl_____ bulb in our vaulted kitchen ceiling can failed. This Cree is so much better, there's almost no comparison. Both bulbs have similar ratings, but the Cree wins in every significant category. This bulb has better lumens (1500-1250), lower consumption (17w-20w), cost ($20-$29), and best of all, the light emitted. The old bulb had an obvious differential in brightness from the center to the edges of the beam. This Cree is a true flood that lights up the whole room in a very homogeneous fashion. The color quality seems in keeping with the claimed 3000K, very nice for a kitchen. My only regret is that I didn't buy this one 2 years ago. Outstanding buy!

Very bright LED
Very bright. It is still very bright even at dim mode with our outdoor flood light.I have to take it our and install to back yard flood night as my bed room is right on top of front door flood nightI switch to other LED night with less intensity. Now my I can see everything in the back yard (50 ft away) when it turn on.
