For the price you can't beat this. It feels a bit cheap as the plastic on the handle is thin, but the device works very well for home use. I removed a pistachio sized chunk of cerumen out of my wifes ear, so I'd say it works well. The aluminated light helps guide you as you explore, just be careful not to go to deep and puncture the tempanic membrane or bump the walls of the middle ear (it hurts!). For professional use, this would not be appropriate, you'd need to get a little nicer one. Very good choice for home use. Again, for the price you can't beat it.

This seems like a great idea, however the tip keeps coming loose from the base and the ends are hard and hurt when you use them in your ears. My kids refuse to let me use it on them.

I broke off the ear part and use the light ....

not sure about the cleaning, but the light part looks quite handy for the price, with the tweezers will be excellent addition to first aid pack.
