Easy to install even if you are only reasonably handy.
Straight forward instruction and the video helped. I replaced an old opener with the Gennie and it works very well and is way more quiet. 2 remotes and the key pad are very handy. About 8 hours in total to install.

Great features, Great upgrade at a reasonable price.
UPDATE 7 months later. Really love this SMART WIFI garage door opener. The wife made me replace her door opener immediately so I now have two to review. Never a issue in 7 months. The app works great to notify you and open/close the doors remotely. Not once has the door not closed correctly on the first try. Smooth and quiet opener. My old Genie screw drive opener went out after 16 years of use. Any electronic that you can get 15 years of problem free use out of is a solid product. I have only had this new opener installed for a week so far.Lots of options with openers nowadays.1) Battery backup - this model doesn't have it and I didn't feel that it served much purpose for me. I am capable of pulling the handle to release the door if there is a power outage which is short term and rare in Illinois. An extra $100 plus the maintenance involved in the battery made me rule out that option.2) Wifi - To sum it up if you are on the fence. Buy this model which includes the SMART Connect functions. I have a ton of connected devices in my house. I asked myself do I really care about wifi on a garage door opener. I didn't think I would. I have a WYZE cam in my garage to tell me if I accidently left the garage door open which happens often when you are 3 blocks away from the house. Did I need a connected opener also? I have found out the answer is yes. Not only can you open and close the door through the FREE and awesome Aladdin app it will tell you whether the door is currently closed or open. The app is super simple to use - you can get notifications each time the door is opened or closed - or not if you choose. It also has an easy way to add Siri capability to open and close. Now I can pull on my block and just say Hey Siri open the Truck Garage. I don't even need to carry a door opener now. I can open and close the door from anywhere in the world now. I can now create a rule in the app to close the door if I left it open after 1045pm. Pretty cool.3) Install. Took about 1 hour to disassemble my old Genie. The new one took me about 3 hours to install. I do a lot of home projects so I am quite handy. The instructions could be slightly better. I read the paper instructions, I can't comment on the video instructions. Overall install is easy. I wish they would clarify the turnbuckle belt attachment step. Also they never detailed how to lock in the door for the first time and properly run. After the instructions were finished I thought I was ready to run the door. However it only lift the door 3 feet. I messed around for 30 minutes trying different things thinking it was a hardware problem. The issue however lies in the 2nd set of instructions which is the programming portion. I figured the remotes come preprogrammed I don't have to read those instructions since I dont have Homelink buttons inside my F150. What they should clarify on the first set of instructions is the programming instructions includes the LIFT and CLOSE "learning". You have to press certain buttons so the opener learns where to stop to open and close the door. I was used to the old opener that had a small switch on the track that physically was moved to tell the opener where to open and close.Long story short. Read the Programming guide. This should be included on the first set of instructions in my opinion.4) Quietness. While I didn't want anything super quiet this opener is much smoother and quieter. My second garage door with another 16 year old genie now sounds like a train rolling in. I can now barely hear the garage door through the inside house door. The belt drive is certainly recommended over the screw drive.5) Downsides. I should have bought this much sooner. Well worth $209. Withing one day the wife said I now have to buy her side of the garage a new one also. Can I consider that a downside? The second install will likely be super quick. I bet I can have the old one down in 30 minutes and the new one up in under 1 hour. So far no downsides, buy one if you are in the market.

Great value, excellent customer service
After having been quoted up to $750 to have a new automatic garage door opener installed after our old one died (after 30 years, so no complaints), I decided to risk buying this unit and installing it myself. I am a not-especially-handy 76 year-old guy, but after watching a couple of videos on YouTube first, the installation did not seem especially arduous, and it would save $4-500, so what the heck. And also I inveigled my brother to help me, on the grounds that two old farts can't be too much worse than one. Anyway, bottom line, I am really glad I took this route. The installation was for the most part straightforward, and the unit works beautifully. And it is soooo quiet; that belt drive just purrs! Actually the hardest part for me was running the wiring from the door sensors (which, if interrupted by your dog or grandkid, prevent the door from closing). The previous installation ran wiring along the rail, but you can't do that with this unit, because the belt wraps around the rail (that is, it's external to the rail itself), and also the carriage that pulls the door travels on the rail. So I had to route the wiring along the wall of the garage, then up across the ceiling to the motor supports, then down to the motor. Our garage has a peaked roof, so that was a bit of a high-wire act! The other problem I ran into was that the instructions for programming the door limits were a bit obtuse. But I called the Genie helpline, expecting not a lot, and was pleasantly surprised to find the helpdesk person knew exactly what to do, and walked me through the process while I was on the phone. And that was that.In short, I really could not be more pleased with the product and with Genie's support. Especially in this day and age. Strongly recommended.
