Dry & Dry [15 LBS] Blue Indicating Silica Gel Beads(Industry Standard 3-5 mm) - Reusable Desiccant Beads Silica Beads(Blue to Pink)

I use these for 3D printing filament dry boxes. They work amazingly well and you don’t need that much. I haven’t yet had to recharge these.

I use silica gel beads for a BUNCH of different projects. Basically its use case boils down to this:1) is this item something that I don't want to ever get wet from ambient humidity?2) is this item currently wet but I need it to be dry and can't use normal drying methods?If the answer is yes to either of those, using silica gel beads is a good idea. If I'm putting books, comics, or cards in long term storage, for example, I throw a few packets for beads into a plastic tub, put the items in there and do my best to seal up the tub. Same goes for electronics, ammo, weapons, dry foods, etc.Best part is it's reusable! Over time it will pull moisture out of the air and change colors. After that you just bake it for a bit to dry it out, and it's good to go!

There are a lot of options on Amazon (and other places) for dessicant packs. I have researched all of them.This product is the best value if you need a large volume of dessicant in bulk. But you are going to have to put it into some type of container unlike a lot of the pre-made options, which are much more expensive for the volume of dessicant.If you look on this site for other products, you will find a lot of reviews wherein they say that the product does not recharge (i.e. when you reheat the product to dry it out, it doesn't dry out and work a second time.) I can definitely say I have recharged this product and it was ready to use again after about 10 minutes at 200 degrees in an oven. (I think the actual product directions said to bake it longer, but that was not necessary. It turned back blue in about 10 min.)

Keeping my air dry like god intended.Update: after using these for several months and abusing them with drying air for a sandblaster, they did need regenerating. Dried back out just fine and still working good. I can see these lasting for quite a while.

Pros: Great product, used it for months, 'recharges' just as advertised, keeps moisture down very effectively, much cheaper than the 'plug in' models that recharge in the wall outletCons: It is a little bit of a pain to 'recharge' in the oven,use cookie sheets to "bake", let cool, then use a funnel to pour into tupperware with small holes in the lid

I like that the crystal pellets turn from blue to pink as they absorb moisture. I am using them in my wine cooler to pick up the moisture from opening the door. Drying is simple. I use the microwave for about a minute on about a 1/3 cup of crystals for a minute. Then I put them outside to bake in the sun on a dry day. Note do not stir the crystals with your finger out of the microwave. They stick to skin and will burn you a bit. The picture show the open top plastic soup recycled container. The crystals are about half way from blue to pink, a shade of purple.

I use this in my watch cases and any other case, like ammo cans - to pull ambient humidity from the air and mitigate any risk of corrosion, rust, oxidization, and/or mildew from forming. This is critical for hermetically-sealed containers and non-ventalated boxes. The three watches in the sealed container all have their crown stems pulled, I always put new watches in this for a few days to pull as much moisture out of the movement as possible - then store my watches in these boxes over a bed of silica beads withvthe stems pulled out. I also use those little teabags in my strap drawer and all of my wife's jewelry box drawers. Outstanding product!
