This is a good rock
no, really! Natural Arkansas stone, and this one is very nice, no planar imperfections, color varies somewhat but also as fine as I had hoped. A little spendy, but you won’t be searching for a replacement anty time soon.

An excellent tool. Could be a little thicker though
When it says "hard", it's hard. I can't imagine how soon the stone will need lapping or will it need lapping at all. While it feels very smooth, it does the job surprisingly fast. Just few movements are enough to provide you with a burr. I think this is an excellent choice second to diamond stone and has an unbeatable price/value ratio.The stone works perfectly well for chisels and planer blades, but it will be a little bit harder to sharpen knives with it as its thickness may not be enough for some handles.

Excellent quality
This is an excellent stone with a nice box to store it. It worked well with no nicks in the surface like some inferior stones. My problem with it is trying to keep it high enough off the table so my hand doesn't always hit the table. I figured it out though!! I highly recommend this stone to somebody that is looking to purchase a hard(fine) stone. It can be passed down to other family members.
