Three Early Stories (Scholastic Edition)

I love me some Salinger and was pleased to find this book!

A bit pricey for what you're getting. Stories are a tad shallow. Good scholastic read, essay questions in back. Perfect intro for High School Sophomore to Salingers work.

Very interesting. The seeds of Holden, Teddy and Esme are there. Show this to your kids. Show them the laughing man too.

Salinger is my favorite author and I want to read everything he’s written. I wasn’t expecting too much, since it’s some of his earlier work, and that’s ok. However, I found this to be overpriced. It could be due to the illuminations, which, to be honest, I found distracting, and would have preferred the book without them. Some of the swear words were also censored, which also took me out of what I was reading. Oh well

I thought I’d try J.D. Salinger’s short stories before attempting Catcher in the Rye. Can’t say I’m hurrying to purchase anything more. I found the narrative to be quite similar in all 3. Not my style of reading.
