GiiNii GD-161 1080P HD DashCam

I have GoPro Hero 5's and other high-end cameras, but they lack functionality I am looking for in dashcams (such as continual power supply while recording). So, this Giinii product meets my functional needs, but the placement of ports is all wrong. While the video quality is less than I had hoped it would be; it actually is my fault for not noticing this was only a 1.2 megapixel camera.

I got this DashCam right before it went on sale for the 2015 holiday season and while I liked the video quality I was dissapointed by the fact that my camera refused to retain any date information between power cycles. I even made a phone call to the manufacture and they were no help. I notice tonight while looking around for a firmware update (like I had a few times in the past) that the text in the Amazon Item Description calls the camera a Polaroid PD-E53H... Turns out they are pretty much the same camera except for a little difference in exterior plastic. I did a web search for Polaroid PD-E53H firmware and on the Polaroid.co.za webiste [...] there is a firmware update that can be applied to this camera that will fix the date and time issue. Now I will start using this thing again!!! Figured I would post this up in case it was driving anyone else mad like it was for me!

I received this product this Christmas. The unit seems to be working just fine. The manual is another story altogether. The micro card needs to go in to the product opposite of what it says in the manual. Sentences are improper and words are incomplete. The manual I have is terrible. It comes in many languages so I guess they didn't take much time to be more thorough with details of explaining all the menu operations in length. Maybe future manuals could be revised.

The media could not be loaded.  It's cheap and it's little, but it already saved me anguish and money. A car weird to the left and hit the side of my car. At first the driver tried to argue that I was driving too close to him, but when I pointed to the camera and suggested calling the cops and let them look at the video, he shelled out a thousand dollar for the damage and left. On the video you can clearly see that his car went left across the white line and into my lane. Good little camera!
