A toy's purpose!
After Toy Story 3 had such a perfect ending I bet we all wondered, why is Disney doing a new movie when everything was wrapped up so perfectly 9 years ago?Turns out "Toy Story 4" is the sequel we didn't knew we needed. As a fan of the movie series since I was literally a baby, I wasn't excited at all for a new entry, but at the same time, when has Disney/Pixar done wrong? I knew at the bottom of my heart that this story had to be really good to justify a new movie, and boy, it did.I think the biggest strength of "Toy Story 4" has to be nostalgia, there are some tear-worthy moments here and there that will really touch you. Don't let the Disney tag fool you; the movie is so emotional and deeper than you think. If you're fan that has grown with these movies you'll feel so moved and happy. The opening scene sets the tone for the movie so perfectly and it just feels like the 9-year wait for this movie was not that long. I knew since the beginning that this movie was something.Only a few months have passed after the events of Toy Story 3 and it seems like Bonnie's love towards Woody has worn out quickly. Feeling forgotten and useless, Woody is still loyal to her, because his mission has always been to give his child memories or beautiful experiences, because in Woody's mind, that's what a toy is made for. After Bonnie's first day at kindergarten, her parents reward her with a little roadtrip that will bring the gang to their latest adventure filled with action, laughs and emotion.New toys like Gabby Gabby or Forky are added to the mix, and the old gang is present too, even though not as much as I wanted. The old toys take more of a supporting role, but every scene they are in is flawless and really good. So if you're a fan of Mr. Potato Head's one liners or Rex's antics you will feel a bit disappointed. This movie is mainly focused on Woody's destiny, as "Toy Story 4" brings our favorite sheriff, who is getting older and older wondering his life's purpose. Is there something else out there besides Bonnie's bedroom? Should he dream more of just making a child happy? At times I had to remind myself that this movie was about TOYS, because Disney gives not only Woody, but all of the characters such a perfect humanity and emotion than only Disney could bring.Between all the effective jokes and a story that unfolds nicely, the movie has such a heart and moving message that can bring more than one person to tears. I wouldn't consider it the best Toy Story movie, though, but I do consider it as good as the previous movies. If you are skeptical about "Toy Story 4", I recommend you to give it a chance and you'll be as delighted and emotional as the past movies have treated us to. I already watched it twice this weekend!

Quality parallels with the price
I like the practicality of this product, given that it is new; more so, it promotes sustainability by passing on the DVD as a second hand product instead of buying a nee one. However, since it is a second hand, the stickers of the library are still on the product itself. Plastic is also gray-ish in color, maybe a sign that it is used.

Great movie, poor 3D
The story of the movie was actually heart-warming. The Toy Story movies each have a fun plot, but they always seem to be teaching somebody. The side story is what makes this one enjoyable. The writers added a fun suspenseful/thriller twist with new characters. I enjoyed it.The 3D rendering of the movie had lots of ghosting. It was very obvious and distracting in several scenes. Otherwise, great quality fun for the entire family.

Pete Doctor put Pixar and Minnesota references on a fun ride!
Well, thought I was getting a new movie for the price we paid. However, it was used and just resealed. Discs were clean and scratch free and played fine. 3D quality was okay. Not enough 3D made scenes to really make 3D worth it. Graduated with Pete Doctor and love his work on all the films. Hoping this will not be the last Toy Story as it's our favorite. Too many times the sequels aren't 1/2 as good as the 1st ones, but Toy Story just gets better. Don't let "Woody's" story end here. Love the movie, but sad to think this is the end. So many MN references as well as knowing the characters faces and story lines were based on Pete's actual life. Family, friends, town and state make this movie a true treasure especially for Minnesotans and those who knew Pete. Great work as usual Peter! Pixar is AMAZING, and you made it rock!

Nice value but it would have been nice if it had included a cover like my first three movies.
Nice Value.

shattered dreams
Toy story 3 was always going to be a tough one to follow, heck it even had me, a grown man crying my eyes out at the end of the film as that story was so well told and it tapped into your inner child. I was super excited when I heard they were making a toy story 4.Sadly, TS4 didn't live up to the hype for me. I missed to see it at the cinema so it was a blu ray release the first time I saw it.Amazon are great, the disc arrived on release date and we sat down to watch it. I got board quite quickly and switched it off. Nearly 3 weeks later, I attempt to watch it again. Man it was hard going. We only get to see the original toys briefly, the new toys don't have the same warmth or charm as the ones which appear in the original 3 films. Toys such as the potato heads, slinky, etc were iconic. We all had them, but the TS4 focuses on toys/characters that were made up. We can't relate to them and there's not alot of time to get to know them. As for the forky character. He's just annoying. Plus how are we meant to feel something towards a tacky plastic spoon/fork with eyes that have been stuck on?Bo Peep. Missing from TS3 rocks up as a main character in TS4. She's been given a makeover and a tougher character. But didn't we have that with Jessie before? For me the biggest let down was the story. Everything that TS1, 2 & 3 stood for of togeherness has been tossed aside to bring us this half hearted story. I don't want to spoil the ending, but if they do make a TS5, which toys do they go with? Woody and Bo or Buzz and the gang. Splitting up the Woody/Buzz thing is a huge mistake. The animation is top class but this dvd will just be gathering dust on the shelf. Toy story 1, 2 & 3 are timeless classic.

Takes me back to the 90's (spoilers)
Does this film live up to the Toy Story legacy? Yes. Does it leave me feeling as though it should have been more? Yes.By no means is this a mediocre film, it is far from being average. For me it sits between 8.5 to 9/10, which places it as the weakest Toy Story entry for myself.I grew up with Toy story, Toy Story 3 was amazing and the parting of Andy and Toys was delivered by Pixar with absolute perfection. I felt happy that nearly all toy story characters in Toy Story 3 were given a limelight and of course everybodies favourite Woody and Buzz were given the screen time they deserve. It also left room for other beloved characters like Jessie and rex to have a meaningful place in the story.Toy story 4 however is mainly Woody's film. All beloved characters didn't really get the screen time they deserved and when they did it was for roles which left me feeling they were ditched. (Spoiler!!) The goodbye between buzz and Woody was executed well, but becuase of Buzz's low profile in the film, it just felt too sad not the bittersweet it should have been.Again, Toy Story 4 is by no means a bad film, it is by any standards a VERY Good film. The story was very good and it made sense for Woodys character development. Seeing all of the toys again was amazing, and the tribute to Mr potato heads actor was nice. The return of Bo peep was great as her absence in Toy Story 3 was one of the negatives of the film. The comedy is as good, if not better, than ever due to dynamics between long loved and new characters. The Vincent's gave me a cringy shiver (so freaky) reminiscent of how chuck made me feel, absolutely brilliant. The visual effects work is just stunning, really nailed the Pixar art style that I have always loved.Overall I would give this a 8.5 to 9/10. Hence it would be unfair to award it 4/5 as it deserved better than that.Highly recommend.

Ruined the series
This movie completely ruined the first three for me. They should have stopped with Toy Story three. In this we have the usual Hollywood trope of the strong woman and the stupid man who can be manipulated and persuaded by her( Bo Peep) to forget all his past and abandon all of his friends because she is just so awesome. Tim Allen's Buzz is sidelined in this movie and we have this pipe cleaner character that we are meant to believe suddenly becomes the little girls favorite toy making her ignore and abandoned most of the others. Extras on the disc had the usual women executive and writers postulating about strong female characters little realizing they had just killed this series for a great many of its fans. The three proceeding films had been about a strong male relationship between Woody and Buzz and in Hollywood these days that seems to be anathema. Its all about women ruling the world and while that's okay up to a certain point it becomes dull as they take all of the charm out of the female characters. Its like watching an all male cast only some of them are in drag. It seems that Pixar has become second rate since being absorbed by Disney. A great disappointment.

A charming epilogue that retreads old ground
This, final episode of Toy Story lacks consistency with the previous three movies and triggers slightly less of an emotional reaction, if you ask me, but you would still be wise to have some tissues at hand. On the first point, this is more of a standalone movie, while the two previous instalments were clearly part of a bigger, cleverly composed narrative. The most obvious change is that Buzz and Woody are no longer handling issues as a team. With Buzz now pretty much consumed by following his own electronic messages that he regards as his inner voice. Also, all the other familiar characters are there including Hamm, Jessie and Bullseye. But their roles are limited .. And there are a few new characters like a unicorn and the even more hilarious Ducky and Bunny double act.Even so, Woody is tangled up in quite an entertaining story. He takes up the responsibility of mentoring the Forky, a mash from trash, sweets and toy parts, that is left confused about being a toy now. Forky was created by the new child Bonnie as former owner Andy parted from the familiar bunch of toys at the end of Toy Story 3 when he went to college. So they are now living with Bonnie, a 4-year old that is anxious to enter nursery. And that touches upon one of the ongoing themes in the Toy Story movies; progressing in life, which is also a big theme here. As is ‘how love shapes our character’. Another theme is 'imagination through play', this time embodied by Forky. Personally, I’m a bit tired about the mandatory overkill of messages and life lessons in animation movies.. Children might get confused and they have numbed me already. The thing is that Toy Story 4 simply once more accommodates viewer’s common familiarity with themes and characters.I cannot deny to be impressed with the movie. It’s innocent, warm and full of charm again. And toy Story 4 is beautiful to look at in the 3D version we bought. The colourful scenes look fantastic. From Woody’s 1960’s design to Bo Peep’s chinaware–appearance, it’s all very well done .. again. However even though it’s a very different chapter, the oddest one in the series so far, something refreshing and new is missing, which is a bit of let down from the makers of Inside Out.Four stars.

New standard of rendering colours, good story
* StoryAndy has gone to college. The toys are in the company of Bonny, and she's off to Induction day of primary school. To support her, Woody sneaks into her bag and helps her to create another toy. As a treat, Bonnys parents go on a road trip. The toy Bonny made, 'Forkie' leads the group to an investigation in a store and local fairground. The emotional aspect is a doll with a damaged voice box who leads a group. What happens next?* SummaryThe big difference with this Blu ray is the superb quality of the subtle multiple colour rendering that makes the fairground sections photorealistic. The emotional parts are with the 1950's doll that was rejected due to her having a damaged voice, and Woody lets her have his to give her a chance. Note the music at one point is the from 'the Shining'. I saw this at the flicks and rejected it. I saw this on Blu -ray recently and rate it very much. Woody departs the franchise and this may have a major influence on any following story. Hes a major feature of the heart and story.
