The superior video quality on the DVD makes this version a lot better. Terrific documentary.
The superior video quality on the DVD makes this version a lot better. Terrific documentary.Seeing ANY movie at the Drive-In will always make it more memorable and enjoyable. A fascinating look at the rise and fall of Drive-In movie theaters. There are currently only about 350 Drive-In theaters that remain in operation in the United States compared to a peak of about 4,000 in the 1950's. And every couple of years, new ones still open. This documentary even discusses the importance of avoiding buying a car that has Forced Lighting. Forced Lighting is a car that does not allow you to turn off the Daytime Running Lights. General Motors is particularly bad on this, Toyota particularly good. Most better cars do let you turn off the Daytime Running Lights, but verify before buying.I really enjoyed all of the technical details in making a Drive-In movie theater. It's not as easy or simple as it would appear. One of the reasons we have so many great Science Fiction movies from the 1950s is the fact that Hollywood was making something, anything, to get the teenagers into Drive-Ins.By this great DVD and support your local Drive-In.I'm very happy to have this excellent DVD in my 3000 DVD/Blu-ray collection.

Make it a blockbuster night
This drive in memories first came out on PBS in 2001 and is almost an hour. A history of how drive ins came out and when did it started to dwindled down in recent years. It's goid to go along with another dvd drive in called: going attractions, the ametcan drive in movie.

Excellent subject, BUTโฆ
Excellent subject, BUTโฆ. once AGAIN, these AWFUL audio films. People speaking over each other, but whats worse is that the dialogue is buried under all these annoying loud sounds. It should be the exact oppositeโฆ the sounds for ambiance and effects, but the speaking subject should be in the foreground. This seems to be a MAJOR PROBLEM as of the last few years with films. Its really not good. At all!

Missing data
Very interesting documentary. They said driveins were gone and slowly coming back. They apparently didnt do their research. Bengie in maryland has never closed. Changed owners. We thought it would close. But he has kept open. It has been open since 1956.

Great Piece of Americana
The soundtrack really did the documentary justice. Noting how many Drive-ins are gone now makes it almost too sad to watch. However, it does a great job of the finer little details of the Drive-in experience. Hopefully there will be more entrepreneurial attempts to bring the Drive-ins back, in the future.

Can You Remember When?
Very interesting. Most nostalgic! A peek back to the days when the entire family piled into the station wagon to see a movie that I can never recall. The program never mentioned ticket prices. Back in the early days, the entire car got to see a movie for one price. Today, the few remain drive-ins have very complicated fee procedures.

Don't Forget To Hang Up Your Speaker!
Very interesting! This documentary brought back a lot of memories and mentioned aspects that I never knew or thought about. You meet people who owned and operated Drive Ins. Some actually lived inside the screens! This dvd would make a great addition to a movie night and the price is right.
