I bought this for recent travel and wanted to got closer shots of locals without being too in their faces. It does this well. Slower lense though and utilizing the macro zoom creates a slight grain to the photo......but you would likely get this with any number of macrozoom lenses.I think its worth its value and a worthy purchase for almost all purpose lenses. I loved not having to change an 18-55 to something with more zoom.THIS will be my standard lense for travel.

Part of learning the craft is discovering your style, and sadly, I let my desire for a single lens cloud my judgement on this purchase. While the lens does what it says, the focus is simply too soft for my taste. I have decided I'm asking too much of a single lens as the $550 Nikor lens of this class was even worse.If you want something akin to that $300 point and shoot, this is a great price for this type of lens. If, like me, you also take shots that need to be tack sharp, skip it.

Really nice lens, although it is not a Nikon, it works pretty well...
