I have issues with this item. I wanted to buy a real safe (rather than the usual dung), but still not pay ye olde arm and leg. Thought this would be that, but doesn't seem to be.Tip: the door lifts off, making moving/handling/installing safe (no pun intended...okay, pun intended). Seriously, it is very front heavy and can really hurt you by falling over until bolted in so remove the door!One issue: had to relocated the mounting holes and I was prepared for a slog of steel hole drilling. However, really, the easiest steel I've ever had to drill through. Very weird to me and I don't think a good thing.Second issue: lock stopped working (will not lock). The issue here is NO RESPONSE FROM HOLLON! NONE! Could it be just a dead battery even though it never signaled a low battery and I had put in a top-of-the-line lithium battery? Maybe, but no help from Hollon!Bottom line, sorry, wouldn't buy a Hollon again.

I have never had a safe before, so I am no expert. But the safe appears very well built -- all steel of good thickness all around, and an even thicker door. The earlier comment about the shelf banging around on the inside is accurate, and as noted it does not seem to matter that much. Hard to hurt steel I guess. At about 70 pounds, the safe is manageable to get anywhere you want it, but will need to be anchored to be secure.At first I could not get the safe to open. The instructions are pretty brief and omit some needed advice. A trip to the company website explained the procedure to insert the batteries and connect the locking mechanism. If you do exactly what it says to do, the lock opens fine. Remember the batteries need to be inserted and/or removed while the lead is connected.No anchoring bolts were included, so I will need to go to the hardware store for that. But generally, if your concern is burglary protection exclusively, you should be happy with this choice.

Nice box, the color is deeper gray than the photo, which is nice. The packaging was good on the outside, but there was nothing on the inside of the unit, so the shelf and mounting pieces were smashing around inside. No major damage, just poor attention to this area of the packaging. There's a Hollon Safe sticker on mine, though I'm sure many other manufacturers are using this same design (made in China). Seems like a decent safe for the price.

Internal lock assembly fell off inside the safe and the safe will not open. I could be mistaken and its a gold brick inside. I am returning it today within a hour of receiving it. If the lock assembly falls of in shipping how secure can the safe be? The packaging was not damaged only small tear at the hand hold. I called Hollon for instructions on entering the factory code as the instructions on the outside did not include the requirement to enter the # symbol nor how to install the battery.

This product is made of solid steel, with excellent quality, but the one I receive is used and repaired, with broken screw and broken self lock mechanism. So I give one star to the inhonist seller, not the product itself.Return it now.

.....then this is your best bang for a buck!! If you want a waterproof safe, fahgetboudit!! This is a solid all steel safe that once anchored to the floor, will deter ANY THIEF!! I feel much more comfortable with this guy as opposed to the plastic crap in this price range!!
