Sturdy case
I had so many loose batteries that it was hazardous to walk through my home. It was as if the floors were covered in roller bearings and made it difficult to move without falling. This case has solved the storage problem I was having and I can once again sleep at night. I recommend this case.

Neat and tidy solution to save your junk drawer.
When I recently took inventory of my battery stash, I thought there had to be a better way. As you can see from my photo, I had various types and sizes of packaging all tossed in a kitchen drawer. It was a mess. There must be a better way to store these. And there is. Apparently, battery cases are a thing.Of course when I started looking at options, I wanted explosion proof and water resistance. However after looking at dozens of cases, I realized, where are everyone’s D batteries? The vast majority of the battery cases had six slots, max, for D batteries. What? I have a camping lantern and fan that each take four D batteries. And what about the 9Vs? I buy those by the dozen. When one fire alarm starts chirping, you better have a whole lot of 9Vs.So I got this case. I need usability more than I need explosion proofing. It still doesn’t have enough 9V storage, but I can use extra D and C compartments for those (see photo).I also wanted one with a pocket for my button batteries. This has slots, but I’d prefer to keep them packaged as I have various types. The only reason I deducted 1 Star was because the pocket is not tight, nor does it have a closure. The handle to carry this case is on the hinge side which becomes the top when carrying the case. This means that the pocket is upside down when you pick up the case. In my use, this led to button batteries falling out when I unzipped the case as they had fallen out of the pocket. It would be great if the pocket held them in. I solved this but putting all my button batteries inside a large ziplock bag and then inside the pocket. This way, the tiny packages don’t fall out.I like this case. Now my batteries are easily accessible in the pantry. There is now a ton of free room in my kitchen drawer. Also, I can easily take stock of what sizes I’m running low on.Oh and obviously, the tester is a huge bonus. I have a tornado shelter where I keep cases of batteries for emergencies, not to be used around the house. It’ll be nice to go test them before each tornado season to see if they’ve outlived their life and need replacing.

I love having an organizer for my batteries, but the handle is on the wrong side
Since there are many different storage case sizes you can order on this page, I am reviewing the one that holds 16 D, 8 C, 8 9-volt, and lots of smaller batteries. Some reviewers have said that their case was larger or smaller than expected or looked nothing like what was pictured. I suspect they were looking at the photos of one of the other options (or don't understand how big different battery sizes really are). So make sure you click on the option you want first, then view the photos. Some reviewers have also said that the foam was too flimsy. The foam in my unit is nice and firm. I decided to take out the foam cutouts for the battery tester and the D, C, and 9-volt batteries so that the lid could close easily. But I kept the cutouts for the smaller batteries, since they didn't sit up quite as high. It's really nice having a battery tester right with the batteries. I've had annoying battery testers in the past that actually required button batteries to operate, which is crazy. Fortunately, this tester does not require any batteries to work. And it works well, with large, clear numbers in the display. The one negative is that the handle is on the wrong side. Mine is on the hinge side, which means the contents of the mesh pocket fall out if you carry the case by the handle. But I noticed that one of the photos in the listing shows the handle on the side opposite the hinge. Why are some made with the handle on the right side and others with it on the wrong side? It also would have been wonderful to have a zipper on the mesh pocket to keep the contents in place. As some others have done, I put my button batteries and smaller batteries in ziploc bags and small plastic containers in the pocket.I would definitely buy this again, especially at this price point. But if I had found a similar case with the handle on the correct side, I would have gone with that one instead.

the people writing these reviews half of them do not understand how foam works, YES you do have to pick out the areas where you have batteries to put, but if you just take all the foam out and only have half of the batteries to fill it, sure there will be some fitment issues, especially when you skip a hole,ALSO, look at the legend some holes look like a CR123 but they are actually for a slightly different size battery. YES the case isn't elephant proof, it is flimsy.I bought this, I pulled out just the foam I needed for the batteries I had, kept what I pulled out in a bag, the foam is cut great, just tight enough to keep the battery in place,DONT stagger the batteries, make sure you use the proper holes, check the legend, its a great way to organize your batteries, and the battery charge indicator works great, mine came with pockets on the top lid, some of them don't I guess.I bought the large one and I had batteries to fill half of it up and it took me maybe 10 minutes to check every single one of my existing batteries to see if they were still good, pluck out the foam and put them in their spot. its a great storage box, just it's NOT very sturdy if you are going to be throwing it around or bringing it camping, its perfect just for your kitchen tho.
