Just what you might expect
These work as you might expect. I'm not sure whether they're supposed to "float" above the snow or not.They may slow your poles entry into the snow pack, but not by much.

Did not receive what was pictured. What I got were tiny and not powder baskets.

Perfect
I purchased these to replace those which I lost during a snow shoe run. As it happens these are twice the size in diameter than my others with pleased me greatly. Their rigid construction is more than adequate to keep my poles steady and secure no matter what type of snow I encounter. I just may purchase another set as a spare.
