Good utility, nice shape
I live off-grid and am forever needing new kettles (I usually get them secondhand). This one does everything I need it to, the whistle is so much more pleasant than the typical kettles I've gotten, it holds a LOT of water, and nothing has fallen apart or melted yet after months of use.The whistle is low-toned and musical, not shrill/sharp/high.My only problem with it is that the tea basket has to be left in to secure the lid. I don't use this to brew tea in, so the basket is quite unnecessary for me and I would prefer to just not use it, but without it the lid simply doesn't fit snugly at all.

Lovely
Good size and great water kettle. I do not make tea in it and tossed the inner basket thing

Caution! Could suffer burn on hand from melted handle.
The style of the teakettle was exactly what I was looking for and appeared very nice online. In actuality, it was a very light weight pot and not as shiny a surface as it appeared to be. Almost reminded me of a child's toy teakettle! The reason for the low rating was due to fact that the handle melted while I was boiling water but I did not notice the melting until I went to pick it up!! Burned my fingers and I was so thankful that I had not gotten the pot completely away from the stove surface or I would have dropped it on my feet!!Was a good price (had been reduced) but as always, price doesn't necessarily make it a good deal or a bad deal either.

Here's whistling at you, kid - but use a hot pad.
April, 2020- The whistle has not been working for quite a while now. Even if I fill it up high. I think it's got something to do with the fact that the steam can escape through the spout, and the pressure just won't get high enough. I sure wish it still worked. But, I'll keep the kettle. It still does what it needs to do- heat up water for coffee- and I just polished it up with Never Dull Magic Wadding Polish. It looks nice, and it's the right size for me.Here's my take on the whistling controversy - I just made my first pot of coffee this morning. I filled it up past the holes that feed water into the spout. It was more water than I needed, but I wanted to follow instructions. I put the top on and pushed it down to snap it into place. It heated up and started boiling in a reasonable amount of time. It started whistling loudly, with a two-tone, loud, but not unpleasant sound. It had been heating up long enough to make the handle too hot to pick it up with. I'd had the gas burner on full-blast, so this didn't surprise me. I poured out the water into my coffee container to let it steep. There was still a fair amount of water in it, so I decided to put it back on the flame and see if it whistled with a smaller amount of water. The cover on the spout is a small, hinged cover that's held in place by gravity. I figured that the steam pressure would vent up the spout, and stop the whistle from happening. As it started boiling, I noticed steam coming out the spout, but then after a few seconds, the whistle went off, quieter, and without the distinctive notes I'd heard before, but it was there. So, I think the two things needed for a loud and distinctive whistle are: Fill it up past the spout-holes, and push the lid on tightly. And use a hot pad to pick it up.I make a large, 20 ounce glass of coffee in the morning, and make it last through the day. This pot is just the right size for my needs. It looks good, seems to be very sturdy, and it works well, from my first use of it. If anything needs reporting in the future, I'll come back and let you know.

Perfect little teapot!
The whistle is more like a harmonica but I can hear it from upstairs - it definitely works. You must fill it enough to cover inside holes to spout, and make sure lid is snapped on all the way. Pretty simple but would probably help if manufacturer put that tip in/on box. You have to fill it w more water than needed for one cuppa but it was smallest “whistler” I could find, & doesn’t look bad sitting on stovetop. (Durability 4 stars only bc I literally just received it but it seems nicely built.) One more note, I would rarely pick up anything heating on stove w/o checking handle or using a hot pad, so...

1-Liter Alpine Cuisine Polished Mirror-Finish Stainless Steel Whistling Capsule Base Stovetop Teakettle: DOES NOT WHISTLE!
Review for "1-Liter Alpine Cuisine Polished Mirror-Finish Stainless Steel Whistling Capsule Base Stovetop Teakettle Tea Kettle Teapot, Gas Electric Induction Compatible...":Having searched high and low for a smallish old fashioned whistling tea kettle, I found this item on Amazon only. It arrived as expected, heavy duty 18/10 stainless steel with mirror finish on the outside, matte finish on the inside, encapsulated bottom. Just the size, design and style I was looking for that has an old fashioned look, meaning the spout is long graceful and lower on the body of the kettle so whenever I have to pour the hot water to make tea or cocoa, I don't have to tip the kettle too far and not have to suffer steam burns on my pouring hand like the newer tea kettles that have short spouts close to the top and handle. This 1-Liter kettle holds approximately 33 ounces or 2 16-ounce Stainless Steel double walled tea/Coffee mugs I purchased earlier from Amazon. This kettle is small enough to have tea or cocoa for two, or if you only have a 8 or 10-ounce mug, then this will give you 3-4 cups of hot beverage. The handle stays cool and does not get hot, just remember to keep the handle upright and not folded to the side. Top has a big opening to pour water in and has a tight cover to keep it in place when pouring, no need to hold it in place. To keep from wasting energy, I used my smallest burner to boil water with this tea kettle. Perfect!HOWEVER: This is supposed to be a whistling kettle per the description and title, but this kettle DOES NOT WHISTLE, not even "a harmonious hum" per description. This is why I gave it only 3 stars as I was looking for a "Whistling Kettle". I paid $26.95 for this and am sorely disappointed it is not a whistling kettle as described. The size is perfect for what I need, however, the non-whistling part is a big turn off.
