Screw the plastic insert onto your wall using the supplied screws and screw plugs 4. Once the plastic insert is installed, push the light onto it and tighten the metal nut caps to secure it into place. 5. Gently pull the top off the Canterbury and turn it on using the switch on the underside. Replace top and wait until dark. Choosing your location Please remember that all solar lights need access to light to charge and this is particularly important for solar wall lights because they nearly always have light obstructed by the wall they are installed on. Occasionally customers want a wall light in a location that just isn’t suitable for a solar light. Before you place your order, please think about the location you want your Canterbury in. Any solar light will struggle to charge in north facing areas or areas that are heavily shaded and the Canterbury is no exception. Please remember that the solar panel on the Canterbury is on its top, so it is not suitable for covered locations such as under porches, overhangs or awnings. No good for task lighting
Bought this to put next to the front door to help to see to put the key in the lock at night. Looked very smart, but even on an exposed south-facing wall, the light was pretty weak - its brightest was more of a gentle glow. After charging during a sunny day summer’s day, the glow would last all night. However in the winter, when you needed it more because of the dark evenings, it barely produced any light and didn’t last - it would have gone out by the time I came back from an evening out. Might be OK for mood lighting on a drive or in the garden I suppose. And after a while rain got into the top and caused it to rust. Not good - you’re told to put it on an exposed wall and in this country it rains!

Disappointing after a while
Having trouble getting light to come on, have taken unit out and charged indoors in brilliant sunshine, seems to charge when I try to get light on it flickers and does not have a constant stream of light, I personally believe there is a loose wire/connector, not sure how to get this checked as light comes on and then goes off when I put back it the proper position outside. Very frustrating, worked initially when we put outside front door not worked for a while, thought I would dedicate some time on trying to get it to work, as it's out of returns policy believe to be a complete waste of money, shame really as a good design and seemed promising, not so much now!

Look nice until the fill up with water
Look nice and easy to put up, i have 5 of these in total and have also noticed that water gets into the white plastic area where the light is which is annoying as needs pulling off and emptying and can see this causing an issue at a later date because metal components where battery is located has already started to show signs of rust speckles. which is why i gave this product a 3 star. would have been 5 if not for the 2 issues stated above.

Flimsy and failed to light up
We bought two for different locations and they both acted the same despite following the set up instructions exactly. Admittedly it was Sep/Oct so not great for the solar concept but these were extremely flimsy articles and worked ok for two days and then failed until you switched them off for a few days. The reason for return was that there was no accountable light when they did work and so maybe as decorations they are ok, but not as designed for and sold as.In mitigation,

Brilliant but buy your own screws!
By far the most powerful solar light I own - I've bought so many on special 'offers' but all just glow pathetically but this really does the job - my only gripe would be - as with most products these days - the screws supplied are low quality and the screwdriver destroyed them. I had initially tried in a different place and can't get the wall fitting off so now the light is screwed direct;y onto the fence post and I can't get the original fitting off.

Appeared to be a nice product
Appeared to be a nice product when purchased.Charged up in the sun and worked well for a couple of years. They do look very nice when fitted to the wall. They are situated below the eaves of an extension therefore they dont come into contact with the full weather. However, they now look tatty and have become rusty; obviously not a good quality stainless. As a final note one of the units no longer comes on. I may replace the batteries, probably buy some different ones.

easy light
We decided that we needed a new outside light over our front door to replace a "tired" mains light. This solar light fulfilled our expectations, easy to fit and gives a good light overnight. It is quite robust and looks good with far less hassle to fit compared to a hard wired light. would recommend.
