The most functional, versatile and durable travel bag I’ve ever used!
I found out about this brand after seeing my work colleague using it for travel. I really like its design and functionalities so I got it for myself immediately.Love it since. It has many compartments that are well designed to store travel necessity such as a laptop, computer accessories, etc. And you can covert it to a backup easily and carry it on your back comfortably.Durable materials and TSA approved security functions (a security lock comes with it). The size is the exact maximum you carry on so you don’t have to worry about it.Highly recommended!

What's not to love about this bag?
I received this the other day. This is a very well put together bag. I also like the backpack harness system. I like very much that it offers two ways to carry it (backpack style or as a duffel with shoulder strap). Just testing it out, I was easily able to get two pairs of thick heavy cargo pants, 5 T-shirts, underwear & socks in the main compartment. I still had room for other stuff. The main criteria is that I be able to carry it on, and this will fit that need. I like that it is a soft bag so it is forgiving when trying to stuff it in a overhead space. For under seat they say to make sure your items fit, aim for less than 11” tall by 17” wide by 18-20” long. This bag might do that if it's not stuffed completely full. Don't know, haven't tried it yet. I would also recommend packing cubes from Shacke Pack. They compliment this bag nicely if you want to be organized. I feel like my life is changing for the better thanks to American Stoic and Shacke Pack. Exciting!

AMERICAN STOIC VS EAGLE CREEK LOAD HAULER
AN ALMOST PERFECT convertible backpack carry on. I bought this AND the Eagle Creek Load Hauler to compare and return one of them. I’m keeping both. Why? Because I used a razor to remove the excess computer padding on the STOIC and gained some space, and it’s a cooler looking bag. The Eagle Creek has a thinner but very adequate nylon shell with no padding, so it won’t hold its shape that well BUT it opens fully like a book making it EASY to get to anything you put inside it. (Plus it has an expansion zipper) The STOIC company chose to have this be more of a functional backpack, hence only the top half opens and you have to search for items in the bottom half (like any backpack) that you can’t see. IF Stoic had run that same zipper another 6” further to the bottom of the pack on each side (and deleted the water bottle mesh pocket in favor of the longer zipper on one side) the entire front of the bag would have peeled open. YES, that’s a disaster if you are using it as a backpack and not a road warrior, BUT if you have the common sense not to open the zipper that far, this modification by STOIC would be a great convenience. Volume wise I can’t tell. (In the photo I do NOT have the Eagle Creek expansion zipper open. Both bags are stuffed to the max with a pillow.) The Stoic is more comfortable wearing it as a backpack as it has some better shoulder straps and padding that your back would appreciate. (Which I did not remove BUT do take up valuable space if you use them infrequently, as do I.) So I have two bags now. The STOIC bag would not be that user friendly if you don’t use some packing cubes or other ways to contain loose items in the bottom half. The Eagle Creek opens like a book so it’s not a problem. Which bag is for you? The STOIC is cooler, by far, but the Eagle Creek might hold more, especially with the expansion zipper opened. UPDATE... THREE DAYS LATER... I’m realizing this bag is NOT 9” DEEP, it’s more like 7” deep. With the expansion zipper expanded on the Eagle Creek bag it holds significantly more than STOIC. MY PROBLEM, other than I can’t fit everything I want in it and that it doesn’t open like a book, is with the weight of my drone and batteries I’m concerned the less robust Eagle Creek backpack straps might rip off in mid trip. Darn.

Huge AND Comfortable
In the sad world where there are not enough lockers for all of the middle schoolers, my son needed bag that could carry his whole school day and still be comfortable. (Thank goodness he is muscular!) This bag is excellent. It has more space than he needs, and it is unbelievably comfortable. I carried it home full of his school stuff, and even on my 5'5" smallish frame, it was no problem. It would also make a TERRIFIC bag for a short trip. It is carry-on size and would hold quite a bit. It appears to be built to last, but I'll have to update on that aspect once more of the school year has passed!

too damn much padding
Ordered last minute so i couldn't return in time . Seems well constructed, just way more padding than is needed. I'm estimating that about 8% of the volume it holds (50 liters) is padding. At least two pairs of pants worth of padding. When going half way around the world, I'd rather have the pants than the padding. If I were actually taking my laptop, it would be plenty well protected by my clothes, don't need a two sided padded pocket. And the big logo on the outside, please, I don't want to call attention to the fact that I'm an American. Going to have to cover that up.

Less space inside but bag is durable.
The major issue with the bag is the size, it has very limited space and needs a space-saving compression bags to fill the bag with clothes, this is not a good fit if you are looking for more space to carry for at least equal to 22inch carry on.ThanksSam

it's just big but that's all
I wish never bought it. too late to return it. and they changed the price many times, i saw 75, i bought it from 95 :(useless and there is no such a thing "TSA friendly", TSA doesn't care about your bag's shape or size. it's not friendly with United and Southwest. but yes it is big but design is disappointed.

Durable, spacious, and versatile
Bought this for a weeklong trip to PA. I was able to pack my laptop, as well as 5 sets of clothes, an extra set of shoes, towel, toiletries, and a deck of cards. The bag is spacious and can double as a duffel or backpack as needed. Sturdy design allows you to really cram some clothes in and sinch it down as you need.I was a little clumsy pulling out my laptop for TSA. If you have large electronics inside with clothes make sure you can pull them out easily before you leave.
